When "The Meg" starring Jason Statham (who I LOVE) was first
released to theaters I really wanted to see it. But after seeing some
trailers I became less excited for one reason or another. Later after
some discussion online, I was encouraged to to give it a chance.
That was some time ago. Today I found the DVD on sale for not
so much so I picked it up. I am anxious to watch it.

It is a pretty bare bones copy but at least they had a little fun with
the inside. I think that is kind of rare with a DVD like this.

Great home theater decorations at Hobby Lobby. I had
to put my blinders on and leave the store before
I bought another something that I have no room for.

The battery in my much loved Samsung Galaxy S6 phone finally
got tired and went to sleep for the last time. I had to replace the
phone immediately of course. I went with the Galaxy S10+.
I am dang happy with it. It takes pretty good photographs too.

I love my phone as I am sure many of you do love your phone.

I taped this Post-It note to my computer desk about two and a half
years ago to remind me that I need to update my driver's license
to the new Real ID. I just kept putting it off after hearing that the
lines for getting it (appointment or not) were 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 hours
long. Well, I FINALLY made an appointment as my license expires
very soon and I was able to get an appointment for about three weeks
from the date of my request.

Long story short, I had all of my documents ready to go. I went in, had
my vision test, had my photo taken, I had my renewal upgraded to the
Real ID and from start to finish I was in the DMV for.............................
...................................................................................... 25 minutes.

I am thankful and I am now going to tear up the Post-It note.

The George Lawrence Company was established in 1857 in
Portland, Oregon. I believe they went out of business in the late
1980's. Fortunately I acquired a holster, gunbelt and the above
item before they did. Pictured here is a custom made spare
cylinder pouch. The spare cylinder being from a Ruger Single
Six .22 / .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire pistol.

Most of the time I use this pouch to hold a ton of .22 ammunition
on my belt. It makes it really easy to just reach down for more ammo
when needed. I have had this pouch for about thirty-six years.

Fine Western leather, yum.
It just keeps getting better.

As is our custom, for my son's birthday we went to play
miniature golf. After the eighteen holes we played a few
games in the arcade. Last year my son came home
with a giraffe. This year...

...he brought a snake home.
Awwwww... Pretty pretty snake.

Another from our visit to the Zoppé Italian Family Circus in September.
This is Carmen Rosales and her husband Jorge Rosales. They
juggle in the circus with three of their five children.
They are a LOT of fun.

You can see Nino the Clown back there in the green pants.
He wants desperately to be a part of the act and they keep
shooing him away. They will not let him join in. It is funny
and sad at the same time. But it all works out in the end.

Happy Halloween 2019!
- From Lizzy Tex Borden -

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

It's good to see that Ghostface is still a favorite.
The SCREAM movie franchise is a LOT of fun.

Cheer up Mr. Lincoln from The Purge...

...because tomorrow is Halloween!
Happy Haunting!

Pennywise is weak.

The Collector is not.

Monday, October 28, 2019

The sun is starting to set as we enter the last
Spirit Store of our Annual Halloween Crawl.

As with most years, the body parts are pretty
much lacking in number and any sort of realism.

 But the giant scissors
are in GREAT form.

Cthulhu? A Cthulhu skeleton?
I just don't know.

But I know who wears THIS.

Four nights until Halloween.

"What gives? Take a picture why
don't ya. It lasts longer."

I DID take a picture. Thanks.

~ Dead and Breakfast ~
Another pretty cool sign at Spirit.
Not our favorite type of sign though. We at The Ranch
like the kind that could be something you might see in
real life if this stuff were to HAPPEN in real life...

...kind of like this sign that I bought five years ago
that I still have not found a place for. I can imagine
coming upon this sign posted on a chain
link fence somewhere.

Mr. Cataract.

Is it Sam Lollipops or is it Sam's Lollipops?
I suppose if they were Sam's Lollipops they would
CUT YOU BAD. These won't. So, Sam it is.

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

Watch your fingers around Annie.

Bubba likes to show his face and Bubba WILL
make you jump. Bubba is major grouchy.

Nine more nights until Halloween.

The "Menacing Creep" is back this year.
You hang this guy outside your window
with a suction cup, facing in of course.

I think that this would be a good way
to give somebody a heart attack.

In other words, leave this guy at the store.

Too much rum.

Sunday, October 20, 2019

This is Laughing Jack and holy cow, there is a
story behind THIS guy too. It is pretty disgusting.

Worse than yesterday's J. The Killer if'n ya ask me.

I guess this is why there are so many clowns at the Spirit
Halloween store this year. The circus is coming to town!

Saturday, October 19, 2019

J. The Killer.
There is a story behind this mask.
Search it out... if you dare.

Friday, October 18, 2019

This skull looks like it was taken from Frankenstein's
monster, but the Spirit store calls it "Lab Monster Skull".
Probably a copyright thing.

In my mind I kind of remembered that it might also be
Bart Simpson's skull, but looking at it again, I expect not.

Thursday, October 17, 2019

Rob Zombie's "Halloween" display made
it back to Spirit this year, much to the dismay
of some folks I imagine. Me? I'm good with it.

Wednesday, October 16, 2019

First their was "House of a 1000 Corpses".
Then came "The Devil's Rejects".
And now.... "3 From Hell".

No spoilers.

This is the Walmart edition that comes with a
T-shirt. "Disco Sucks" is printed on the front of it.
I have no interest in the shirt at all but I will keep it
with the Blu-ray/DVD because that's how I roll.

It was a beautiful day.

Free Hugz at the Spirit Store!

"I'll get ya next time!"

(Spirit Store)

Saturday, October 12, 2019

Party City knows just what we want.

This skull over at the Spirit Store has real personality.
Those teeth are a-w-e-s-o-m-e. I have not seen this guy
before. If I had the extra money and the room and not
20,000 skulls already, he would have been coming
home with me.

Friday, October 11, 2019

In the twelve or so years that I have been visiting
Halloween stores annually, this is the best Jason
Voorhees hockey mask that they have ever had. That
is actually not saying much, but this one isn't bad
as fake Friday the 13th masks go.

I bought this flimsy foamy thing at Spirit in 2007.
It was all they had. Like I wrote before, Spirit
stepped up their game a little bit this year when
it comes to F13, Elm Street and Halloween.

Thursday, October 10, 2019

It seems a long time ago now. August 24th was National
Knife Day. I didn't know that then and I wanted to make up for it
here. Today I was finally able to dig out a knife to commemorate
the day. The above knife is a Cold Steel Recon Tanto. Many years
ago the Great Western Gun Show that took place at the L.A. County
Fairgrounds would usually have a table that featured Cold Steel
"seconds", or knives that were imperfect in sometimes just the
slightest way.

I would pick up some of these knives for practicality pennies on the
dollar (I exaggerate... a little). I cannot remember how much I paid
for this but it was next to nothing. I don't believe the sheath is the
correct one. I think they just threw this one in. But the knife fits
well and is held in securely.

This knife is SHARP. It has never touched a stone. I have
never used it. It's just a fun knife to have.

If I remember right, the imperfection on this knife was the logo. It was
not stamped correctly. It bothered Cold Steel but it doesn't bother me.

Blade length - 7"
Overall length - 11 3/4"

Happy belated National Knife Day!

This clown opened the door for us today.
What a nice jester.

Okay, so there are no original clown jokes.

This guy at Spirit is creepy.
