My son and I voted these Creepy Clown Pathway Markers
among the top five coolest things we saw on our 2015 Halloween
Crawl. When the heads are activated by a button or motion sensor...

...the lights inside go on and they are the greatest colors. It plays
creepy circus music and there are lights inside that make it look
just like spotlights are running all over these guys heads from an
outside source. It's a great effect. Had they been just a bit less
expensive, we would have brought them home.

It is worth taking a trip to the Spirit Store just to see these clowns.

I wanted to try this mask on, but I didn't for whatever
reason. Anyway, what difference at this point does
it make? Know what I mean?

The folks at the Spirit Store lovingly refer to this guy as
"Glass Head". How do I know they love him? By the way
they let him hang around! Tee hee.

The "Wreck It Ralph" ride prepares to
ride off into the sunset.

Awwww. What's a matter little kitty?

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

This looked awkward last year.
And 365 days later...

...nothing's changed.

I took a trip to Borden Cinema tonight to catch a
screening of "Christine", the 1983 movie adapted from a
Stephen King horror novel. Here we see Christine
early on in the movie. She is going to hurt somebody.

This is a good movie. I read the book years ago and if
I remember right the movie stays pretty close to the novel.
If you get a chance, check it out. It's fun to see Stu "Welcome to
God's country!" Charno from "Friday the 13th Part 2" (1981)
as a bad guy in this. Also great to see Roberts Blossom from
"The Quick and the Dead" (1995) and "Deranged" (1974).

Grrrrrrrrrrr.... GRRRRrrrrrrrrr...

~ Wolves at the Spirit Store, 2015 ~

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Over at Halloween Express they have an "Instant
Wood-Print Coffin Prop with Lid". Throw this thing
down on the lawn and like a pop-up tent you have
an instant funerary box. It is "bendable/collapsible".

And at the Spirit Store they
have what must be THEE
worst "Raccoon Tail Hat" EVER.

I don't think Daniel Boone
made his with electrical tape.

Ladies?

Here is another great (to me anyway) score that
I made on our 2015 Halloween Store Crawl. I
fell in love with this guy the second I saw him.

I hung him up over the door to my bedroom.
I like him not for Halloween so much, but because
he looks piraty to me. He will be up there a good
long time. Keep a weather eye out, mate.

Spirit Store Swamp Tours.

And the Lady of the House.

I installed my new hat rack today.
I think it will work out fine.
In reality though, it will most likely have
more than one hat parked there at a time.

I have been chomping at the BIT to share this picture
and I hope you enjoy it before the Spirit Store execs
get wind of it and make me take it down. This.... is a
peek into the BACKROOM AT THE SPIRIT STORE!
I know, this is big, right? I was fortunate enough to be
walking by at just the right moment to snap this picture.
The steel door was closed seconds later.

There appears to be many boxes in there. Some are even
open. There also appears to be a coat hanging there. I can't
believe our luck. So please, DO enjoy it before it gets
taken down.

Oh, and I also was lucky enough to find George Strait's
new CD at Walmart today. A Walmart exclusive actually.
So much good fortune in my life. It's crazy, man.

P.S. I also bought this. It's a place for my hats to rest their feet.
I am going to do my best to get this thing installed tomorrow.

Today I have some photos I took of the inside
of the Spirit Store. These pictures are just kind
of an overview.

Some props and things.

All kinds of black light bulbs, strobes and fog
machines. Most of these are not made for heavy
duty use, no industrial strength machinery. This
stuff is good for a season or two or three I think.

Tons of costumes. I'm thinkin' that this is about
one quarter of the total costume space.

Of course they have some great themes. This year they had
a cabin in the swamp. Lighting plays a big part in these displays
and unfortunately, my camera interferes with a lot of that.
I will post more photos around the themes soon. Hip hip!

I bought V/H/S and V/H/S/2 today. I had heard not great things
about these when they came out way back so I passed on them.
Then all of a sudden people started changing their minds and
raved about them. So I picked them up.

I watched V/H/S tonight and I have to tell you, that was a GOODUN!
If you want a good and freaky movie to watch on Halloween, I say...
THIS ONE. I'm going to watch V/H/S/2 tomorrow.

Pumpkins galore and...

...bones aplenty over at Target.

And a healthy supply of fog juice
over at the Spirit Store.

An evil clown cup at the Spirit Store
has me in the perfect mood...

...to watch my new Blu-ray edition of
"Killer Klownz from Outer Space". This movie
is a must see for any "cheezy movie" fan.

Today's stormy weather helped to make it
feel like a Halloween movie watching night.

Right after a nice dinner cooked outside
on the Coleman burner, as always. (And
that is BBQ sauce, not ketchup.
Ketchup... *shiver*)

Nothing says Halloween shopping
more than a Zombie Leg Purse.

You can see that it is just waiting
for us to fill it up. This purse is
truly... a cut above the rest. Sorry.

Saturday, October 3, 2015

Sure, he's cute and cuddly and everything, until...

...HE BITES YOU IN YOUR FACE!

Friday, October 2, 2015

That has GOT to hurt.
These guys are at the Halloween Express.
Very colorful, guys.

I found this knife at the Spirit Store. I think it looks real.

Up on my wall I think it looks REALLY real, but it is foam.
Michael Myers would be proud.

I took a trip over to Target today.

Avengers: Age of Ultron was released on Blu-ray. Avengers
are not my favorite movies ever, but fun? Yep. I just wish
Agent Phillip Coulson were still around. He was second to
Tony Stark in the "I Love Him" department. I am going to
watch this tonight. Looking forward to popcorn and Iron Man.

More Halloween to come!

Thursday, October 1, 2015

It's Halloween time here at El Rancho De La Tex (as
it is just about everywhere) and here are the stores we
visited on our Annual Halloween Crawl 2015. First up
was Halloween Express. The Express did not disappoint
and I will post a few photos from all of these stores in the
coming weeks. Huzzah says I!

Next up was a store that I had never seen before. We spotted it
sitting in a little corner as we were driving out of the lot. An
unexpected surprise! But this store was WEAK. It was hotter
than Hades inside. I felt bad for the girls woking in there.
And all their stuff was.... bleh. Did we buy anything?
Stay tuned..............

Wait, I can't do that to you. No. Bought nothing.
It was a not great store.

We then made a stop at Boot Barn as I had written before and
a stop at the Indian Store which I have also already written about.
It was really hot and humid so we made a quick soda pick up at
In-N-Out Burger and sat in the car to relax in the air conditioning
and talk and have a few guffaws. We love our guffaws, my son and I.

Our next stop was our first Spirit Store. They had pretty cool
theming this year. It was like being in a swamp or something.
Of course pictures to come.

Next up was our second Spirit Store. We love these stores,
but we were getting a little tired so...

...we headed over to Tom's restaurant to sit inside and enjoy
the air, the view, and of course...

...ONION RINGS! And burgers and such. By now it was getting
late and our dogs were barking and we still had a bit of a
drive home, so we called it a day.

~ The Spirit of Children ~
Every Halloween and all year long since 2006
the Spirit Store accepts donations for a program
they have to help make hospital stays less scary
for children and their parents. When a donation is
made at a Spirit Store you are given a wristband.

Tis a worthwhile endeavor thinks I.
