Money has been kind of tight lately for one reason or
another so instead of buying a few of the newer and more
expensive releases that I want, I have been stretching my
dollars a bit by buying more budget friendly
DVDs and Blu-rays.

This week I actually found two over at Walmart that I have
been searching for. "Beyond Skyline"... This sequel to "Skyline"
is a guilty pleasure that I have had on my Amazon Wish List for
a while. I found it in the $5.00 bin. That's about ten dollars
cheaper than on Amazon. Hip hip! The second feature is
"The 5th Wave" on DVD. It is not going to be great, but I am
hoping it will be fun. Chloë Grace Moretz is in it and I like her.

And I found a copy of "Urban Cowboy" for $3.74. I had to
buy it to have a backup to my backup to my backup DVDs.
I just love Bud and Sissy. But this low price.... Insult to the
movie. And when the heck are they going to give it up and
release a Blu-ray for this movie. C'mon you guys. DO IT.

And as for the newer release movies on DVD and Blu-ray
that I want and can't afford right now? Things will swing
back and I WILL have them. You betch'ya.

I don't know who this lady in the Memorial
Day parade is, but she is heeled and cool.

Let us revisit "The Cabin in the Woods".
On second thought, let us not. It sucks.

Especially the narcissistic doper.

Momma rat update: She is gone.
Life can finally get back to normal around here.

And now I don't have to worry about
spelling "momma" wrong anymore.

The movie "Baby Driver" on Blu-ray finally came
down to $9.99 so I picked it up. I heard good things.

I took this picture on the L.A. Universal Studios Tour
sometime around 1968 or 1969. Best I can remember
it is just a display of some miniatures on a sound
stage. Not a very good picture. The tour was pretty
primitive then. Nothing like it is now.
I liked it fine.

I took that photo with my Polaroid Swinger camera
(that I still have). Not the best camera in the world for
not the best picture taker in the world. I found this
photograph of a Swinger camera on the Internet.
Someday I should post a picture of mine.

~ I voted. June 5th, 2018. ~

I found more .22 ammunition at Walmart. I couldn't believe
my eyes. There was LOT'S of .22 ammo on the shelf. I really
can't afford it right now, but I could not afford NOT to either.
So I bought 2 boxes for a total of 200 rounds. I will eventually
use it. THIS time when I made the purchase they entered some
information from my driver's license into their system for the
transaction. This is intrusive. I will leave it at that.

I also bought the movie "Fury" on Blu-ray. I like Brad Pitt and
I like (for better or for worse) Shia LaBeouf as well. And
Michael "End of Watch" Peña is a favorite too. It is a "blind
buy" in a time of I really can't afford to blind buy, but we will see.

Momma Rat update. Well, Momma Rat is pretty comfortable
with me coming into the shed and talking to her and taking
flash pictures. One of these days I will go out there and she
will be gone, which will be good.

When the movie "Terminator Salvation" was released in 2009, this was
the best they could do for a less than expensive figure from the movie.
This is a Playmates T-R.I.P. (Terminator - Resistance Infiltrator Prototype)
six inch figure. I watched the movie again recently and I enjoyed it a lot
more this time around. Christian Bale takes everything so seriously.

I love that guy.

Just a beautiful last day of May, 2018,
during my weekly errands, looking up,
from my Subway sandwich lunch.

From the "Amarillo This Month, August 1970" pamphlet
I picked up in Texas, here is an ad for the Big Texan
Steakhouse. This place is still there and I still want to visit.
I've unfortunately never had the pleasure. However, I will pass
on the "Free 72 ounce Steak if Dinner is Eaten in One Hour" deal.
I can put good food away, but my limit is pretty much 71 ounces.

They still offer that deal and I think now-a-days they even have a
webcam that they turn on if somebody takes the challenge. Now we can
watch it from home. Anyway, someday I hope to go there. I left the scan
pretty big, so if you would like to open it in a new
tab you will see it better.

Update on momma rat.
I don't know what is WRONG with us because this
rat should be GONE. But nope. Here she is with
her babies resting comfortably surrounded by the
remnants of some great snacks that we have NOT
been giving to her. Ultimately this gal has GOT to go.

A soon to be a momma rat set up shop
in our shed. This rat's future is up in the air.

I bought the Chuck Norris Triple Threat DVD over at Walmart for
just $5.00. The movies included are "Missing in Action" (1984), "Missing
in Action 2: The Beginning" (1985) and "Braddock: Missing in Action III"
(1988). All three movies are on one DVD. I have watched Missing in
Action so far and the quality is fine. These movies are great 1980's fun.
They are no better or worse than you would think they are.
Hey, it's Chuck Norris. That DVD cover is epic.

When Chuck Norris pops up from under water unloading a barrage of
7.62x51mm NATO rounds from a fully automatic M60 machine gun,
you know you are in serious Missing in Action territory.

It's all good.

Fun Fact #1: Chuck Norris does not do push ups.
He pushes the earth down.

Fun Fact #2: Chuck Norris was once bitten by a venomous cobra.
After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra eventually died.

If you have ever been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride
at Disneyland in Anaheim California, I am sure you will
recognize this guy. My son took this picture circa 2003.

I FINALLY got my hands on a Blu-ray copy of "Hostiles".
I went to see this movie in the theater and I had mixed feelings
about the story, but overall I liked the movie a lot. When Hostiles
was in the theater, people were dumping on it all over the place.
Either that or they were ignoring it. But when the movie came out on
Blu-ray on April 24th do you think I could find a copy? Nope.

Well today Walmart finally had one, and when I say one, I mean ONE.
And I am really happy to have it.

Extra Treat: Q'orianka Kilcher as "Elk Woman".

I do recommend this movie.

This postcard is dated 1965.

I got it somewhere around that time in
I think Missouri or Virginia.

Johnny Depp's Driver's License.

Thursday, May 3, 2018

When I went to the movies yesterday they had this display for the
new Star Wars movie "Solo" that will be released soon. This is one
Star Wars movie that I am probably not going to see in the theater.
This movie just doesn't feel right. I will buy it on Blu-ray, but I am
99% sure that there will be no theater viewing for me.
I do hope that the movie does well.

I could not get a good picture of this pretty ravaged looking
display because it was facing the door to the outside and the glare
could not be avoided.

I went to see "Avengers: Infinity War". Another good one.
The way they left it.... Well, I cannot WAIT to see the next
chapter in this series. The direction this movie took is like
the poster for the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974)
asked: "Who will survive and what will be left of them?"
We need the next movie... soon.

The Avengers lapel pin you see there was given to me by
a friend and I proudly wore it today for my boy Tony.

Now here is another little thing that I think is pretty
cool. I picked this menu up from Golden West Pancakes
sometime during the mid to late 1960's. I don't really know
if they are still in business or not. I love the design of this
souvenir menu and will you look at those prices? $4.95 for
a 12 piece bucket of chicken. Nice.

I have no idea if the cover would be offensive to anybody
these days. I left the scans BIG so if you would like to open
them in a new tab everything is easy to read.

This is a 1966 World Series souvenir keychain I bought
at Dodger Stadium when I was.................. young. This game
was the Dodgers vs. the Orioles. Who won? No idea. I was
not at this game. I guess they just had some of these left-over
and I bought one at the game I went to.

I have no clue how I still have some of this stuff.

Awwww, a baby dinosaur.
(Not real)

"You are a part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor!"
Man, pardon my dust... Like I say, live in the mountains,
live with dust. Under THIS dust is a hard rubber like material
in the form of a Darth Vader helmet. This figure has a hole in
the bottom and when he was new he was stuffed with a Star
Wars T-shirt that was delivered via that hole. I bought him
without the T-shirt.... cheap.

Saturday, April 21, 2018

I was doing my weekly's over at Walmart and when I got to my car
I noticed a white truck waiting for a parking spot while the poor
soul parked there was rushing around to get their stuff in the car
so the truck could move in.

That truck waited for over five minutes.....
while sitting in front of those open spaces.

The spot they were waiting for was a difference
of four, count 'em... four spaces.

Thursday, April 19, 2018

During one of the visits we made to Texas I picked
up this guide to Amarillo happenings and places to
visit. This was about 100 years ago.

Inside is an ad for the Bonanza Sirloin Pit restaurant
featuring a photo of Little Joe, Pa Ben and Hoss
Cartwright. This really brings back memories. I did a
Google search of this address and much to my dismay,
I believe the property is now the home of a Taco Bell
fast food restaurant. Ack.

Check. it. out. Bobby Hughes and the Western Heartbeats
are entertaining over at the Avalon Ballroom. I really
wish I could hear these guys.

Here is another medallion I bought at the Family Christian
Store. I have been carrying this one in my wallet for a few
years along with the one in my last post.
This one is Saint Jude.

This medallion scares me a bit as sometimes, no, a lot of times
I make decisions that are less than desirable. And yes, I do try
to deal with the results. That can be a challenge as well.
Right?

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

I bought this Saint Christopher pendant at the Family
Christian Store a few years ago and it has been riding
in my wallet ever since.

Saint Christopher is the patron Saint of Travelers
and his story is very cool.

A scale replica of Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber
from "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith".

I have four of these replica lightsabers and truth be
told, if they were separated from their stands and
mixed up, I would not know which lightsaber belonged
to which Jedi.

And oh man, I need to dust the inside of my cabinet.
Living in these mountains means dust everywhere
all of the time.

Sunday, April 15, 2018

My mom told me a long time ago that if I find a
penny on the ground (or any coin) that I should pick
it up and keep it because it is good luck. So that is
what I do and I keep them in a little leather pouch that
I bought at the Renaissance Faire in Agoura California
in the early 80's.

Have they brought me good luck? Better luck than
the the folks who lost the pennies I am thinkin'.

(For this Friday the 13th I have a picture of my
Mezco Cinema of Fear: 3.75-Inch Jason Voorhees.)

Tuesday, April 3, 2018

We used to go to June Lake and surrounding areas opening day
fishing and just whenever we could get up there in general. We would
go through Bishop all the time. Bishop is a fantastic little town with
so much history. This is a postcard from the Starlight Motel in
Bishop. This must be from about 1966 or 67.

They had TV sets too, back before cable. I know it seems
kind of plastic, and some folks cannot imagine that staying
in these little motels was as cool as it was, but just like drive-in
theaters of old, it was VERY fun.
The fishing was good too. Rainbow trout. OH yeah.

An old pass to the 20th Century Fox lot.

Happy Easter!
The Easter Bunny came around this year and left one
of his pals... Carrot Patch Pete. And let me tell you,
Pete was tasting mighty fine this year. MIGHTY fine.

This maze was on the back of Mr. Pete's box. I took a picture
of it just in case you might want to give it a try for yourself
(because I am into sharing like that). Of course, you can
kind of see where I did the maze already, and I got
it totally right, the first time. Not bragging.
