Last night was my first ever Mid-Year Pizza and a Movie Night

at Borden Cinema. A chance to watch two old "B movies" and
chow down on some fun food. I'm thinkin' that many folks

know the drill.

The first feature of the night was, The Angry Red Planet (1959).
And let me tell ya, this is some serious subject matter. I mean, look

at this guy who is telling us that the mission to Mars may

or may not be a success. Radio communications are down.
Everybody could be DEAD for

all they know.

Everybody being these guys (and gal). Here are the

"astronauts" as they are being interviewed on television

just before mission liftoff.

I KNEW this trip to Mars would go south. Am I the only

one who can see that Satan is a crew member?? (Turns out
I was wrong. He was a cool old guy. He even smokes a pipe
onboard the spaceship. Made the place feel kinda homey.)

After liftoff, aboard the ship, lovebirds. These movies always have
to have lovebirds. Although she IS playing coy and a little hard to
get (RESPECT!) as Mr. Playboy Sure of Himself "Astronaut"
is breathing down her neck. It is all very professional as space
missions go. He is actually kind of a nice guy in the long run
and I bet he smells of English Leather cologne (which is okay).

Let's move on.
Look! They made it! They...

...landed on the planet MARS! And here it is in the "revolutionary

photographic miracle", Cinemagic™!!
Will you look at THAT!

of Cleo too. And Cleo is NOT one of the "astronauts."

Hmmmmm.... I am not going to spoil the end of this movie.

It might not go the way you think. It was a lot of fun and

yeah, I will watch this one again someday. I rate this

movie 5.4 out of 10 Angry Giant Long Legged
Rats (in Cinemagic™).

At about 9:30 PM it was time to prepare the late night
snacks in preparation for the Main Feature.

If you can call this a SNACK! DiGiorno pepperoni

pizza! I think it looks delicious.

Also on the menu is frozen Signature Select garlic bread. Not

the kind I had during the last Pizza and a Movie Night because

they didn't have any in stock (it was Signature Select as

well, but not frozen), so I will try this.

Now the Main Feature of the night's event, The Madmen

of Mandoras (1963), also known as.... They Saved Hitler's
Brain (1968). There are actually two versions of this movie.
One titled the former and one the latter. The reason why is
just too much to get into here. I watched the Madmen version.
They start this movie off with a bang as they demonstrate the
power of a poisonous gas by killing an elephant. It really
sets the mood. You know what you're in for.

And again of course, lovebirds.

Sexy sexy. That dude Walter Stocker IS a looker.

I will give you that.

Man, I just can't really explain this whole movie other than to

say, while the entire world thinks that Hitler is dead, the super-

imposed image of the man onscreen explains what is really
happening with Mr. H. (that is what he calls Hitler, Mr. H.) to
our two lovebirds. Mr. H.'s surgeons will remove Mr. H's head

and keep it alive in an effort for Mr. H. to continue his reign
of terror. Why they need to remove his head from his
healthy (I guess) body I don't know or I missed something. But here
is Mr. H. before the big op raving and ranting at his doctors as

Mr. H. is prone to do.

Yeah, I know. I am not explaining this very well.

Anyway, here are our kidnapped (yes, more stuff
happened) lovebirds being led by gunpoint down an

underground passageway to the big reveal...

Holy cow! Here is the man (or... the head) of the
hour himself! Mr. H.! Oh the pageantry!

Here is Mr. H. screaming out orders to his underlings.

"Mach schnell! Mach schnell!" That's the only

thing the head says in the movie, and only once.

And I'm pretty sure that it translates to, "Release the gas!
Kill them all! I will rule the WORLD!" Yes, the gas that
killed the elephant during the demonstration.

And then some stuff happens and some more stuff
happens and Mr. H's evil plan starts to
unravel and then...

...a happy ending thanks to the

lovebirds (and a few more folks armed with hand grenades).
And yes, the lovebirds lived happily ever after. I liked this

movie. It did keep me interested and it had a pretty cool
very end. I would watch it again somewhere down the
line. I will rate this movie 5.5 out of 10 Lugers.

Well, it was a hair before 12 AM when the movie ended and
I was tired and full. I almost forgot! Speaking of full, I am
going to rate the DiGiorno pepperoni pizza 7 out of 10
Non c'è Males. I will rate the frozen Signature Select garlic
bread 2 out of 10 Little Green Things on Top Of The Bread
That Don't Do Anything Other Than Make The Bread Look

Better Than It Is.

My next Pizza and a Movie night should be in January

the Lord willing and the creek don't rise. I am looking

forward to that and I am planning the
movie selection already!

Uh-oh!

Thrift store Movie Haul!

And then? Panda Express where I enjoyed their
new Dynamite Sweet & Sour Chicken.

It is "their spiciest dish to date."
I'm thinkin' that is true.
I was all OVER IT.
I want more of that stuff!

I proudly exercised my right to vote today.

I am so thankful to have such a beautiful
location to drop off my ballot.

New Project!

Take a picture a day for 24 hours.

This is the first one.

On Tuesday, May 19, I had shown a picture of these cactus

pups that I ran across and wrote that I was going to plant

them in a pot soon.



Well, I did. It's going to be fun watching these guys
grow up. In a short while I will buy a clay pot to put
them in. I didn't find one around

here that I could use.

The right front tire of my car had a slow leak

so I headed over to Discount Tire to have it
repaired. I like this place. It is clean, it is well

organized and it smells like tires.

Their magazine collection is GREAT if you

enjoy reading about tires. Smelling tires is one thing,
but reading about tires is another story, so...

...I watched a movie on my phone. Tim Holt

in The Fargo Kid (1940). I love Tim Holt

Westerns and this was a fun movie.

(I am old enough to remember when you either
stared at the walls or read tire magazines while
you waited. So being able to watch a movie
is just an awesome thing in my book.)

Discount Tire repaired my tire free of charge

and the day turned out to be pretty dang good.

Memorial Day 2026

~ Remember and Honor ~

In 1784 Philip LeMarchand created a puzzle box known as the
Lament Configuration. This is a recreation of that puzzle box.
I bought it at a seasonal Halloween store many years ago.
It came flat and was assembled with some difficulty and a
little Super Glue. It sits on the Horror Shelf
in my curio cabinet.

Again with the cactus, Tex?

Yeah, I know. But I just found these today and I think

they are beautiful and I cannot wait to put them into dirt

and see what they do.

I will name this picture:
“Three Dollars to Put Six
Pounds in One Tire.”

I came across a deal at Walmart. I never would have paid

$29.97 for this. Not because I wouldn't want it, but because

I have too many figures as it is. At $12.00 I can almost
afford to give it away if I want to. So I brought it home.

He's pretty cool. I don't think they spent much time
on the acrylic background though. Some of the text
even seems to be repeated in spots. His feet are on
pegs so he can be removed from the base if needed.
The figure is about 8.25 inches tall.

Here is his lovely face. His secondary jaw is extended
and fierce. The translucent dome covering his skull
 is a little off, but hey, for $12.00, this guy is great to
own. I had seen him (at Walmart) for a few weeks.
He was the last one. That is probably the reason
for the mark down. Once again, HUZZAH!

My mom made some corn on the cob (which was

about the best I have had in my entire life) so I made

a ham sandwich on sourdough bread along with some

BBQ beans to go with it.

I am posting this photo because sometime in the
future I want to look back at this and think,
oh yeah, THAT was good.

I keep forgetting what this button in our car does.

At this point I’ve decided it probably just quietly alerts

The Avengers that it’s time to assemble.
I hardly ever press it.
