I took this picture at a store in Julian, California.

I'm still trying to figure out if this doll frightens me

or not. If the owners related spooky tales to me

about the doll having little adventures

in the dark of night, I'd probably believe them.



The sunset as viewed from our front porch on Thursday evening.

This is a picture I took in October 0f 2007. It was

the first morning of the first day of the brush fires in
San Diego that were to the left of us, the right of us, in back of us,

and in front of us. You can see the hot Santa Ana breeze

blowing and the sun peeking through the smoky skies.

When I took this picture there had already been a

run on bottled water, the gas station was out of gas,

the ATM was out of money, my pharmacy was closed,

and the whole town was as good as "out of order".

I'm tellin ya, things fall apart fast folks.

"Strike yer colors ya bloomin cockroachers!

By thunder, we'll see ya to Davy Jones!"

Or at least that's what it looks like my mom's figurines are singing.

I spotted this art on a street in North County, San Diego.
He's on the sidewalk, so if you wanted to you could
walk right up to him. He looks pretty okay with that.

Don't you just love the prize booth in game arcades?

For 2 tickets you can win a cool eraser in the shape of a football.

For 35,000 tickets you can win a SpongeBob nightlight.

I never go home without an eraser.

In the center of this photo is a lake on a golf course.

When there are brush fires you can sit here and watch

firefighting helicopters fly in and hover while they

load up on water, then head back to the fires.

Under different circumstances, it would be an awesome sight.

As I glide along an automated walkway at the

Barona Casino and Resort, a television monitor advertises all of

the available amenities that I myself will never experience.

I've forgotten what it's like to have that look on my face.

I went to Blockbuster Video today because I had heard

that they were having a sale on Blu-ray movies. They are.

It's not all that good. 5 Blu-rays or DVDs ($14.99 or less)

for $24.99 or 3 for $14.99. Not that great and there are not

that many Blu-rays. If you go, pay attention. The movies are

all mixed together and you may think you are grabbing a Blu and

it's a standard DVD.

But hey, I got the Beetlejuice Blu-ray for $5.

I like these pigs that I bought at a crafts store.

I took this picture about an hour or so ago which

would make it about 1:30 AM. This is the skylight

over my computer table and the moon was just'a

shining on through tonight/this morning. My camera

can't capture how cool it really looks, especially when

clouds are kind of just whisping on by like in an old

scary movie.

I took this picture at a botanical garden and there's

just something about it.

 I don't know... Something around the Edulis.

This is the Air and Space Museum in San Diego California.

I've never been inside although I would really like to see it.

I am never with anybody who is interested, so I am always

outvoted. When I peek inside the door I can see what

I'm pretty sure is an Apollo space capsule.

It looks really interesting.

Maybe one day.

If I drank, this is totally where I would buy my booze. This

liquor store is old school greatness. And I bet they have all kinds

of snacks. Like twenty brands of beef sticks, fifty flavors of beef jerky,

and even those little snacks of fishy fish strips in cellophane bags.

And popcorn? A given. And with any luck at all, perhaps even a

NACHO machine with the hottest of jalapenos.

And if they sell folding beach chairs, I would hang out all day.

I guess that's why I don't drink.

I was taking a picture of this balloon when... wait a sec...

Is that a dinosaur?

This is a tree in Ojai California (in Ventura) that

they decorate every year for Christmas. It usually has

huge ornaments on it. But this time it seems to have

only lights and a star at the top. Not a very good photo,

I know. I took it through my car's window.

This is FYE (For Your Entertainment). One of the last

CD and DVD stores around it seems. If you're lucky enough

to have an FYE near you, than you are blessed with many CDs

and DVDs both new and used to choose from. And if it's a location

 like this one, there are great associates to help you out. This

store also has action figures and sometimes the clearance prices

can be pretty doggoned good.

Anyway....

I like this. If it were greener and more (much more)

manicured, it would be attached to a building of

sorts in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.

As it is, it's really just on the back of a Carl's Jr.

fast food restaurant in Oceanside, California.



My picture for today is of a couple of my mom's roses.

California? Check.

Palm tree? Check.

Warm weather? Check.

Sunny blue skies? Check.

Motel that will impress your out of town visitors? Gimmie a minute.

When the world comes to it's apocalyptic end, I'm going to

grab a raft, a lantern, an mp3 player loaded to the gills with Enya

and sail the waterways of America. This urban stream will take me

to the California Aqueduct which will float me straight on

through to Heaven.



This was a view from our breakfast table on a

visit to the Barona Casino in Lakeside, California.

Very nice, and not completely developed yet.

Hmmm. It seems many of my photos are at restaurants.

But I swear, I do more than eat...

...for the most part.

What kind of restaurant has a Star Wars poster

in the restroom? An awesome restaurant.

Killer Pizza From Mars.

If you ever want excellent take-out Mexican food, and

you end up at a restaurant that looks like this,

you've found the right place.

I don't understand this. I've seen these contraptions a

few times. These things would seem to hold your CDs or DVDs

in a position to bake in the sun. Melt City.

Maybe I just don't understand the technology.

It wouldn't be the first time.

My son and I bought this dish with little birds

perched on it's edge for my mom as a Christmas gift a

few years back. I've always thought it is really cute.

when my cousin was staying there a few years ago.

After two years of saving and procrastination, a few days
ago I finally bought an Apple 5th Generation iPod Touch and
have been spending stupid amounts of time loading it up with

everything from Merle Haggard to Pantera.

And I am still working on it.

I'm wonderin' if the owner of this gas station

invented the World Famous Pocket Fisherman...

This cave is near my home.

It's rumored that trolls live in it.

And not the good kind.

LOL... I'm just kidding.
They're the good kind.

Be still my heart. It's the Disneyland of liquor stores.

I could spend hours here smoking and

having a key or two made.

It's raining cats and dogs over here at the

Big Lots store today.

Here is the same parking lot on a sunnier day.

Big Lots used to be called Pic 'n Save. You can

get some good stuff for cheap prices, but for the

most part you get lousy stuff for cheap prices.

Here are a few odds and ends from my action figure

collection. Just a very small part of them. Not my

most valued, but there is a Hit Girl from the movie

Kick Ass and a Halloween Michael Myers re-release

figure that I'm quite fond of.

This fence on the patio at the Panda Express restaurant

looks deadly enough as it is, but I wonder what would happen

if the edges of all that iron foliage were to be sharpened.

Just a frivolous thought.

Here is my annual "Day After Halloween Fifty Percent Off Of

Everything" haul. That (wacky) pirate skull was the only one like him

in the store. He was there in late September when I was there and

I wanted him then, but I didn't want to spend what he cost.

But today, he was in the same spot, fifty percent off and now he calls

Casa Del Los Tex home sweet home.

This stuff doesn't look so great in the light of day, but when you
have them in low light and with spooky surroundings they are
pretty effective.

The hanging head and Jason's machete are from The Spirit Store

and the rest is from the Halloween Superstore.
