So it suddenly dawns on me that if I get four of my
friends together and we all play once...

BOOYAH! WIN!

Wait. This could be a trap.

I should probably just go ahead and apologize in advance
for this post, although if I really felt that way I wouldn't post
it in the first place. Sooooo, just color me disingenuous.

Tee-hee.

I've had enough Christmas to last a while, but I just tonight after
work noticed that the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer that my
son gave to me a few years ago is under the tree. I like it.
Yo ho, the mistletoe!

~ Christmas 2013 ~

We went to the movies today to see...

..Saving Mr. Banks. It was good and made me cry.
I hate that. It gives me a headache and is a waste of emotion.
Slasher movies are much better.

After that we went to Denny's for a meal. The food wasn't
good at all tonight.

We never ever used to go out on Christmas day,
but for some years now we have. It's a long boring story.

Sunday, December 22, 2013

Seven years ago my son gave this guy to me for Christmas.
I named him Tom. This was Tom in the car on that day. He
went to the movies with us. Nowadays Tom lives on my bed.

Saturday, December 21, 2013

A friend at work gave a Christmas gift bag to me that had this
snowman on it. I love the snowguy so I put it on my
bedroom door.

KICK-ASS 2 on Blu-ray and DVD. I've been waiting for this
one to come out. We thought it was great in the theater and I can't
wait to see it again. Now I just really hope they make it a trilogy.

A while back I posted a photo of the poster that came with the
Friday the 13th documentary called "His Name Was Jason". The
poster came all folded up and I wasn't sure I wanted to really
put too much effort into framing it. So I bought a cheapy poster
frame and here it is.

But after looking at the poster for a few years now, I decided that I
like it and headed over to Arron Brothers Art Mart to find a little
bit better frame.

Wa-laa! I found a pretty good one. Kind of aged
and didn't cost too dang much.

~ Happy Friday the 13th! ~
For this Friday the 13th I am showing my Mezco "Screen Grab"
from the movie, Friday the 13th. This is the moment when...

!! SPOILER ALERT !! !! SPOILER ALERT !!

...when young Jason Voorhees pops out of the lake at the end of
the movie scaring the heck out of Alice and us. This piece of F13
collectible is not very pretty to look at, not done very well, but it's
like a lot of my other stuff, just fun to have.

ROAR!

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

In 1963 this reservoir in Baldwin Hills (California)... broke.
It destroyed over 200 homes and several lives were lost.
Sometime after that we flew over it in a private plane and I
took this picture of the aftermath. Yes, I was very young.

I scanned the photo from a contact sheet.

In my never ending quest for the perfect batch of homemade popcorn,
enter Whirley Pop. I've seen these before, and you probably have too.
I saw this one at SEARS and the cost was $19.99 (standard). I received
one for Christmas some years ago but it was damaged and had to be
returned. I never got a replacement but wanted one, so getting this new
popper is good.

The instructions say to put your popcorn and oil into it, then put it over a
medium to medium high heat while slowly turning the crank at the end of
the handle you see in the above photo.

The crank turns the gears on top of the popper...

...which in turn rotates this bar thing at the bottom of the pot and
keeps your cute little corns moving around and around. This is just
like the movie theater popcorn poppers do, but caveman style.

My regret is that I did not get a photo of my first batch of corn. FAIL!
I made two batches so far and all the kernels popped, I had none
burned and the popcorn was darn good.

The popcorn went just perfect with tonight's viewing
of the original "My Bloody Valentine".

Anyway, you can find these poppers all over the place and
there is a Whirley Pop website out there too.

P.S. Please forgive my seemingly out of control consumerism
as of late. I'm a MONSTER.

P.S.S. The booklet that comes with the popper states that for
registering your Whirley Pop, there is a 25 year warranty, so I did.

I'm not even going to open this Apocalypse Now/Apocalypse
Now Redux Steelbook Edition Bu-ray. When I saw it at Best
Buy it was the biggest no brainer in the history of mankind:

It's mine.

Well, mostly because it was on sale for $14.99. I would have
still bought it if it were $29.99, but I would have had to do the
"Struggle With Myself" dance a bit first just so I didn't feel
guilty. (I hate that.)

I paid another visit to Comics N Stuff.
Will you just look at this aisle? Man...

...if you are a Star Wars fan who is really into these smaller
figures, you are HOSED. I mean, it's awesome, but you are
HOSED. There are THOUSANDS of 'em. This place will
go out of business and the building will turn to dust long before
you could ever collect all the ones you want. I feel for you.

But hey, I found something that I myself have been wanting
for a looooong time. An alien figure. This figure is a Movie
Maniacs Warrior Alien from the movie "Alien: Resurrection."
I bought this figure for about $30 less than I've seen him sell
for online. You win some, you lose some. Today I won.

This guy has been around a while. The package was dirty and
dusty. But a little Goo Gone for any sticker residue and a damp
paper towel later, and he looks shiny and brand new.

This is not the exact figure I've been wanting, but it is okay.
They are not easy to come by for me, so I picked it up. It is
not the greatest figure in the world by a long shot, but I like it.
He will, of course, remain unopened.

This is a pair of hearing protectors that I bought years ago at yet another
gun show. These are pretty standard as hearing protectors go, but they
work fine. Besides preventing you from agoin' deef from gunfire, they
are pretty good for sleepin' during thunder storms. I also break 'em out
when the noise in the rest of the house gets a little loud (television
and such).

Hearing protectors like these do not block out all noise like a TV or a
party. They are more for bursts of much louder noises. But they do
help. Also, if I don't get them adjusted on my head right, they can give
me a headache.

These are Peltor's Bull's Eye Shotgunner model. I've seen them for
about $33.99 on Amazon. I can't remember how much I paid years
ago.

One nice thing about this model is that they fold up and fit in a
pretty small area. Hey, you need some of these.

Friday, December 6, 2013

I saw this in an "antique" store not too long ago.
I just don't think I could get up and look at this every day.

Thursday, December 5, 2013

Here is Simba, with his mom, Sarabi, and his dad, Mufasa from
The Lion King. I've yet to buy the movie. I should soon. It's one
of the first movies we ever took my son to see. I don't know what
this figure is for or who made it, but when I saw it I wanted it.
It's a hard rubber like material of sorts.

(Please forgive my punctuation yet again. I haven't a clue.)

~ Reason #15 Why I Would Not Be Good Law Enforcement ~
Because if I were a cop, and I saw you in your huge truck drive
into that bike lane with your two right wheels up on the sidewalk
passing the three cars waiting on the red light (like I saw you do
today) just so you could make your all important right turn without
waiting (and go through the red without stopping to boot), I would
light you up and ticket you a minimum of $500 right before I pull
you out of your window and thrash you to a pulp for putting
everybody around you including me in danger.

This another in a series of reasons
Why I Would Not Be Good Law Enforcement.

The sky is looking a bit threatening today.

This decal looks like something I've seen more of in the
Eastern United States. There should be snow under this
SUV, or Jeep, or whatever it is. Snow. *shudder*
I'm not a snow person in the slightest.
