Following yesterday's post, I present to you, from over at the
Disneyland Hotel, circa 2003, the "backside of water".

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

One of the now defunct waterfalls over at the Disneyland
Hotel. These falls were always fun to explore the day after a
visit to Disneyland. Lot's of pathways to follow and areas to
hide behind the "backside of water". And it was LOUD.

Eeeeewwwwwww.
But that's right, I ate it.

I bought Skyfall today. I've been waiting for the right
price for a few years. $4.96 was the right price.

Today's post was brought to you by Crow.

"Keep your hands off my keys!"
My son and I bought this keychain for my mom
some years back. She used it until it disintegrated.

~ Josh Randall - Wanted: Dead or Alive ~

This was from my visit to the Autry Museum of Western Heritage
last August and is a relatively new display. I had not seen it before
and to me it is extra special. This is Josh Randall's (Steve McQueen)
Mare's Laig aka Mare's Leg from the 1958 to 1961 TV show called
Wanted: Dead or Alive. (The smaller Mare's Laig on the wall
is a Marx Co. toy gun, 1958.)

I have left the photos big for better viewing. This is a shortened Winchester
Model 1892 saddle ring carbine chambered in .44-40. It is said that the
.44-40 rounds were less than impressive when placed in the loops of the
gun belt so they opted for the larger .45-70 rounds. Those rounds
on the belt are not the correct caliber for this "rifle". You can purchase
reproductions of this firearm these days and it is sold as a pistol.

This Mare's Laig was manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms
Co. in 1908 and has serial number 468096. The firearm was designed by
Kenny *Von Dutch" Howard and was worn by of course, Mr. Steve
McQueen. The gun belt was manufactured by Andy Anderson circa
1960. This is just one of several gun belts and Mare's Laigs used during
the show's run, but it is very cool to see. Please open these photos in a
new window to appreciate the display in a larger size.

I did the best I could with these photos. I could not use flash.

A friend gave this cute little Santa
figure to me for Christmas.

This is the first Christmas I can remember being
so sick that I was in bed after work on Christmas
Eve until I went back to work Friday Morning.
Christmas passed me by this year.

Some local color over at Adventureland in Disneyland,
California. (Tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki, room.)

This is a plate I bought at a thrift store a few years ago. I think
I paid a dollar or something for it. It is from 1993 and is a numbered
Limited Edition plate created by Susan Wheeler (whoever that is).

I just like the cute bunnies looking into the window of the store. They
make me smile. Can't help it. They are SO freaking cute.

This morning at 1 AM in line at McDonald's. So me and Mr. White
Car in front of me have been waiting for almost fifteen minutes for
the guy in front of us to get his food and move on. I can tell that
Mr. White Car is getting more upset by the minute.

Right after I took this picture, Mr. White Car sticks his arm out of
his window and signals that he has had it. He pulls to the right and
tears ass outta the lot. Not thirty seconds later the guy who we
were waiting on is served, leaves, and I pull up to the window.
The moral of this story is: Fast food ain't that fast.

I like this little adobe home on one of the shelves at the
Indian Store we go to. Those tiles are very nice too.
The Indian Store has many beautiful things.

Once again it's knife time here at El Rancho De La Tex.
Today I have a Cold Steel Red River knife. I don't know
a whole lot about this knife other than I bought it (again)
a long time ago at some gun show.

I paid only about five bucks for it, and to be honest, if I
remember right I bought it for somebody else. I just never
got it to them. It has a carbon steel blade and some rough
wood grips just begging to be "customized" in some
fashion or another. That's not really where my talents lay.

It comes with this inside the belt leather sheath and I can
see some big ol' mountain man guy really using this knife to it's
full potential. To me it's just a fun knife to have, just to look
at from time to time. Cold Steel has not produced this
knife for at least a few years now.

A relative made these little Wizard of Oz
ornaments for my mom.

Houston, do we have a go on Mom's Christmas Chex Mix?
Roger, El Rancho.. That's a go on the C.M.
Copy that, Houston. HOORAH! Over.

Baron Von Frankenstein is fixin' to retire as head of the
Worldwide Organization of Monsters, but just how in the
heck is he going to break the news to all of his monster
minions? Have a Mad Monster Party I'm thinkin'. Animation
from the makers of Rudolf, the Red Nosed Reindeer, Rankin/Bass.
Boris Karloff is the voice of Frankenstein. Yeah, 1967.

I've been wanting this movie for a long time and it finally showed
up in the $7.50 Blu-ray bin at Walmart.

These are carnations that somebody at work gave to me. I love
carnations. Especially white with blue highlights, or all blue, or
all pink. or all white, or any carnations.

This is part of an old Moog synthesizer we use to use at
the house. The picture is kind of weird because I scanned
it from a contact sheet and I had to crop some folks out of it.

My bolo tie says that I am the Sheriff of the Gene Autry
Western Heritage Museum. But do not worry, you can
carry your guns in town. I am cool that way.

Misc.

My much loved Dustbuster broke last week so today I
bought a new one. I hope it works as well as my old one.

I bought the new AC/DC CD sight unheard. With this band
I am 99.99.99.99.99.99% sure that I cannot go wrong.
I also bought The Passion of the Christ on Blu-ray for only
six dollars. Good deal. Lousy photo. The Blu comes with a
coupon for $7.50 towards a theater ticket for the new movie
"Exodus"... which I will use.

And I got some tuna fish.

I stopped on the way home to have some Jack in the Crack.
You know, that place where the tacos taste like the burgers
and the fries taste like the fish and the fish tastes like the burgers.
But it's not really as bad as it looks. The curly fries are good.

Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I got to say it was a good day.

This is some Indian Store goods. I am seriously resisting using
any cornball jokes with "tail" as part of the punchline.

One time when I was about ten years old I was in Maine riding
along a road in a car with one of my uncles. I had said to him,
"Gee, squirrel tails sure are neat." So he stopped the car, got out,
shot a squirrel, took out his knife, cut the squirrel's tail off and
gave it to me. Thanks!

How do they get away with this? If I decided to carve my
colors into a table, the authorities would be there before
I could even unleash my wicked Swiss Army knife.

Driving up our road to get home I notice there is a
nice dusting of snow on the mountains. I am
good with snow, as long as it is over there.

Monday, December 1, 2014

It is a much needed rainy day here in Texland, So Cal.

I picked up Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today. I
paid too much and I should have waited for the price to go
down for this one, but I had no self-control. So there I am.

Sunday, November 30, 2014

You know what they say about Southern California... One minute
you are enjoying snow in the mountains, and a short time later you
are soaking up the rays on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Later
still you can be dining in Cancun and still be just a hop, skip and
a jump away from The Home Depot.

This is my One Million Dollar bill. Not real. I suppose I don't even
have to write that. These bills can be purchased from the "International
Association of Millionaires" to use for any number of reasons. Or
just to have for yourself.

Actually, these things make no sense. They are worth nothing.
(At this time you can still find the International
Association of Millionaires on the Net.)
