UGLY POST TITLES -

Blogger is making me add these ugly big 'ol "post titles" now.
Just ugly.

Man of Steel

I went to see Man of Steel in IMAX 3D. Above is the 3D glasses
I didn't drop into the bucket (again), my tickets and a Cheez-It Crackers
box because it is the only thing I have with a Man of Steel picture on it.
It was entertaining. It makes the Christopher Reeve Superman look really
primitive. But ya know what? In my mind, Christopher Reeve is still the
only Superman. With due respect to Henry Cavill, I know he tried, he just
doesn't have that Superman light in his eyes that Christopher has. But I will
buy the Blu-ray when it comes out because it was good.

I also picked up this "Turbo" poster. I have no idea what the movie is about,
and I am thinkin' that I never will. And that orange thing kind of freaks me
out. But I got the poster because I am poster greedy that way.

cupcakes

Do you like cupcakes? I like cupcakes. These are
cupcakes that my mom bought at the supermarket.
And don't go dissin' supermarket cupcakes until you've
sampled them, because that are cupcakealicious,
let me tell ya.

Years ago (again), I bought this Gerber coffin handle
bowie knife at a gun show that they used to have at the
Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. The show is no more,
but that is a long story for another day. Anyway....

...I bought the knife used in great condition and I have no
idea why it says "MAC TOOLS" on it. Or if I knew, I just
can't remember right now. The knife has tripled in value what
I paid for it, even without a box or paperwork.

The blade is 9 1/2 inches and the knife is 14 3/4 inches overall.
It is 5/16 inches thick. The handle is a grippy like rubber with a
brass lined lanyard hole. The guard is brass but I have no idea
what material the blade is made of. The sheath is a Cordura
material (I believe) and can be used with a military web belt
or any belt can be threaded through a generous sized loop.

I have never sharpened or even used the knife. I have all the
good intentions in the world of using knives like this when I
buy them, but I am just too wishy washy about getting them
"dirty". It's okay, I have knives that are "users". I am just happy
to have this knife in my collection.

I left the photos pretty big for opening in a new tab or window.

...or else

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

I went to Barona Casino in Lakeside California a few
times and on two of the visits I bought a couple of pins made of
copper. I don't gamble but I love my souvenirs. Everywhere
I go I try to buy a little something to remember the occasion.
It's part of the fun for me. Yes, I'm one of those.

You will worship at the Alter of MOOG.
You will worship at the Alter of MOOG.

Maybe this band on the Tomorrowland Stage in Disneyland
is playing Pink Floyd, because this audience looks a little more
mesmerized and a little less "getting their groove on".

Hmmmm... In what way?

Sunday, June 16, 2013

I went to Big Lots (Pic-n-Save) and found a few DVDs.
Mother of Tears Unrated. I have the rated R version and
did not care for it too much. "They" say to give it another
chance with the unrated, so I will. I also bought two that I
already have, but I don't have this type of F13 packaging
and I love F13 so much that I hadda have 'em.
The price is right.

I went to a Subway sandwich shop...

...and took this lousy picture of Tonto.

I love John, but I'm reeeeaaaally hoping that when
I see the movie it explains why that crow is on his head.

Casa De La Tex wildlife.
A fawn and a duck. Although, I like the sound of a deer and
a duck better. Adeerandaduck.

So I was at Walmart just admiring the big screen televisions
when I turned around to...

...search through the CD bins for some music that I might
want to add to my beloved iPod.

Wow, right on top of the stack of CDs was this skull and crossbones
handkerchief. Just laying on top like somebody knew I would want
it. And you know I do. You know I am all about the skull and
crossbones anything. And for one dollar? Count me in.

And it came with instructions! How about that? Not so sure about that
"envoltura para la cara/face wrap" method though. Something tells me that
even though it might look a little like it, it really doesn't have anything to do
with the cowboy way.

Just a little follow up from yesterday's entry. I went
to open this guy last night like I said I was going to
and.... Holy cow! I noticed that this is a "Part 4: The
Final Chapter" figure and not a "Part 3" Jason Voorhees
figure. This is the only "Part 4" figure of this wave that I
have. I had not noticed that. I'm so observant. So
dang-nabbit, this guy will not be opened after all.

Life. So complicated.

I went to the mall again today.

And lo and behold, I found myself smack dab
in the middle of the comics-n-stuff store again.

I once again (as I have for the past year or so) hemmed
and hawed over whether or not I should buy this waaay
overpriced Supergirl Figure. I did not buy her, again.

But I did buy this old school Batman pin and stuck it on
my bag while I was enjoying a fantastic banana/banana
smoothie from Surf City Squeeze. Please excuse the
ratty bag I am using today.

And I also bought another Jason Voorhees figure from NECA.
THIS one I am GOING to open. I have purchased a few others
and I have said that I am going to open at least one of them but I
never did. But today, before I paid for this guy I dropped him
denting the packaging a bit. That cemented the deal.
Consider him opened.

It was an okay day.

I don't wanna scare anyone, but I'm gonna give it to you
straight about Teddy. His body was never recovered from
the lake after he drowned.

This bench has been here for a long time.

This sign reminds me of  a couple of signs inside a club in Venice
California that I frequented in my younger days. One sign was over
the women's room that read,"MEN'S" with a teeeeeeny arrow pointing
to the women's room. The other sign was over the men's room and it
read, "WOMEN'S" with a teeeeeeny arrow pointing to the women's room.

These signs led to much chaos. But every once in a while these
signs led to much merriment.

OBJECTS IN MIRROR MAY APPEAR LESS INTERESTING
THAN THEY REALLY ARE, OR NOT.

Thursday, June 6, 2013

I haven't seen any of the Toy Story movies (although I
plan on doing so) but I really like Jessie. Here are a couple
that I have added to my collection. Nothing special of
course. Just for fun.

I know I'm leavin' here a better man,
for knowin' you this way.
Things I couldn't do before, now I think I can.
And I'm leavin here a better man.

WOO HOO! AGAIN! TONIGHT!
Sorry. But are those not the most awesome colors?

Today I bought "The Man With No Name Trilogy" on Blu-ray.
A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The
Bad and the Ugly goodness. If you are a Western fan and do not have
these movies, SHAME ON YOU! Anyway..... I also bought Jack Reacher
on Blu-ray. I haven't seen it. I wanted to see it in the theater but was not
able to. I really can't wait to see this one.

Monday, June 3, 2013

I've seen these things on people's homes, like on this garage and
I wonder, do birds really live in there? Do people even really want
birds to live in there? I ponder, ever so briefly.

From my 2012 visit to the Autry Museum in Griffith Park, California.
This is a "Colt Walker" pistol. This one was made in 1847 and has serial
number 1004 (!!!!!!!!!).  This pistol was designed by Samuel Colt and
Capt. Samuel H. Walker and manufactured by Eli Whitney Jr. I've always
wanted one of these pistols.

The Walker is about 15.5" long and weighs 4.5 pounds. Holy cow. It is a
black powder pistol and uses .44 ball ammo. In Hollywood this pistol was
carried by Josey Wales in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976), Mattie Ross in
"True Grit" (1969) and Augustus 'Gus' McCrae in "Lonesome Dove" (1989).

In reality, Capt. Samuel H. Walker was carrying a pair of Walkers when he was
killed by a lance in the Mexican War, the Battle of Juamantla in October of 1847.
