Happy Halloween, friends.

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Way way back, a long time ago, in the land of before computers, wireless phones,
microwave ovens, Jack In The Box and color televisions being commonplace, there
was a movie called "Witchcraft" starring Lon Chaney Jr. It was double-billed with
"The Horror Of It All" starring Pat Boone. These movies were so freakin scary and
dangerous to view that theaters offered "Witch Deflectors" that you would keep on
your person during the show as protection against evil forces.

I have a Witch Deflector. It's a pretty cool semi-clear plastic coin about the size of
a fifty-cent piece. Unfortunately I just have a lousy scan of it. I would normally take a
picture of it, but I put the flyer along with the deflector in an envelope in a drawer
here-abouts and I can't remember which one. But anyway, they should start this
little fun trend again. Paranormal Activity Deflectors, Blair Witch
Deflectors, BORAT Deflectors.

Here is a picture that my son took a few years back. A gravestone in the
cemetery at The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland in California. This is the
gravesite of "Snevets Nor". I am sure that most of you know that a lot of
Disney "cast members" are immortalized at the Disney parks and "Snevets Nor"
is/was apparently a cast member named Ron Stevens. Mr. Stevens worked for
WED (Walter Elias Disney) in the Haunted Mansion architectural department.

That is all that I have been able to find out about "Snevets Nor".

Here is a Mezco Cinema of Fear "Screen Grab". This one represents
Tommy Jarvis in a tense battle with Jason Voorhees at the bottom of
Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th: Jason Lives (Part 6). I'm not going to tell
you who comes out on top of this struggle, but I will say... there is a part 7.
That bit of stuff coming out of Tommy's mouth? Air bubbles. They're
under the water. It's really a pretty cool little diorama.

R.I.P baby.
It's getting closer to Halloween.
I bought this guy at Ross a few years ago. (Yes, I actually found something on
the shelf that was not broken.) Ross is dangerous. I always
leave with something I do not need, except for Mr. R.I.P. I needed him.

Last night I went to my favorite theater to see Paranormal Activity 4. These
are not the best movies in the world, but I have seen every one of them in
the theater and it's kind of a tradition for me now. I like to see where each
one is going to go and now I am really anxious to see where the next one is going
to take us.

I am not going to say anything about it so I don't spoil anything for those who have
not seen it and are planning to. I WILL say that I did enjoy it. And there were
only three of us in the theater too, so that rocked.

Oh yeah, and when I go to the movies? It is about a twenty-six mile
round trip for me. That is the closest theater. So it is a bit of an outing.

Ahoy landlubbers!
Yet another of my lovely friends. I really like this guy. He looks better
in person, and he is the first to tell you that. He says that the camera adds
pounds to his otherwise... "slender appearance". Vanity, thy name is Skull.

And that hole (via flintlock projectile I would imagine) in the back of his noggin?
Tis a place for little fishes to swim in and out of. I got this guy at Walmart ya see.
In the aquarium section. He is for a fish tank. So keep a weather eye out.
Ye find friends in many a strange ports o' call.

A long time ago I had a small garden and I tried my hand at growing
pumpkins. Pumpkins require a lot of space. I didn't have that much so
my crop wasn't great. But I did have a good time growing that not so
great crop. You should try it.

Those four black things are little tin owls on springs, mini scare crows.

Back when I was in high school, I was lucky enough to have a lot of friends.
My friends and I had carved a place for ourselves in my backyard and everybody
enjoyed it's western/cowboy theme. I suppose I had a little input in that. I was also
lucky enough to have friends that would come over every once in a while just to
clean up and take care of our "encampment". Anyway, I took this picture of a tree
with lanterns on it for my photography class (again, I was not a good photographer).
At night we would have little campfires, light lanterns and just do what teenagers do
when hanging out all together. Good memories.

We called it Black Oak Canyon and maybe someday I will post more photos.
I have a nice photo album of it all.

I love hot dogs. I really do. They don't make me lose control like
they do to Patty Duke (again, I age myself), but almost. Here is the entrance
to my favorite Weinerschnitzel fast food restaurant. It's in Diamond Bar, California.
Admittedly, they are not the best dogs in the world, but they're good. The
last really good hot dog I had were the hot spicy dogs at Dodger Stadium.

I transposed  this picture to black and white because I liked it like that. My digital
camera did not quite capture how beautiful the blue sky was, so what the hay.

This is a little skull patch of sorts that a friend at work gave to me
some time ago. I really like it. You might have seen it before on my
blog site down by the counter. I think the patch is too cool to put on a
jacket or something just to have it get old and wear out. I would rather
keep it on display so I will have it forever. She also gave me a pair of socks
with little skulls and crossbones on them. She knows me.

Underneath the patch you can see the top of a Disneyland Program Guide.
I bought this when my son was little. The day before we would go
to Disneyland we would look through it together and get hyped up in
anticipation of all the fun we were going have. Just a little tradition.
I have a couple of these guides going all the way back to the opening
of the park.

I loooooove Subway.

I looooooved Subway.
Home is where Jason hangs his (fake
three dollar) machete (toy).

I have Mezco Cinema of Fear Jason Voorhees (baghead version) and Michael
Myers plushes. There's a lot of dust around here so I keep those big Hefty
bags sitting on them. Hey, it works... But is it like those folks who keep the
plastic covers on their furniture? I hope not.

Wednesday.

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

So last night I was sitting at my computer reading the news and munching
on some graham crackers. All of a sudden I felt a little bug around my
eye. I swatted it and it went to my arm. I saw an ant. I looked down at my
my graham crackers, the ones I had been eating for a while, and they were
chock full of ants. Apparently I had also been eating lots of ants. I just kept chanting
to myself, "Protein, protein, protein."

Twenty-four hours later and I am still itching. No ants, I am just still itching.

~ From the Mezco Cinema of Fear Series ~
This is my A Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th Part 4
Jason Voorhees "stylized" figures. I totally love the colors of the F13 edition.

The other day I went to the mall and I took a break at Surf City
Squeeze. This was my first foray into Surf City. And it was good.
I had a banana/banana smoothie. And it was good. Real good.
I'm going to do that again as soon as circumstances allow.

Aaaaaannnnnd one of my primary reasons for visiting the mall was
to hit up Bath & Body Works for the annual stocking up of Vanilla Bean Noel
only available during the yuletide season. It is my all time all time all time
favorite scent and body lotion. Let there be Vanilla Bean Noel, and there is.

They had used this jack-o'-lantern for something where I work and they didn't
need it anymore, so I took him home. I cleaned him up, put a flickering light
in him and now he sits happily downstairs for the Halloween season.

Upstairs I have a jack-o'-lantern that I bought a few years ago at Walmart. You
see these everywhere. These guys aren't a whole lot, but they help to get me in the
spirit of the season.

Friday, October 12, 2012

Huh?
I saw this when out and about yesterday.

Thursday, October 11, 2012

This is the aisle in Toys "R" Us where I usually find some awesome horror
figures. But for weeks now I have not been able to find the new release of
a NECA Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees Part 3 (just about my favorite) action
figure. And today they still didn't have one. (I like that Frankenweenie plush
in the lower left side of the picture.)

But Comics-N-Stuff did! Life is good.
Comics-N-Stuff is quite a way away from me. I might have found this
guy sooner if not for outrageous gas prices.

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

I went to Fry's Electronics yesterday to pick up some compressed air and to
peruse the movie and music sections, and to drool over lots of other stuff.
I took this lousy picture with my iPod. All I ended up buying were
two five dollar CDs. Air Supply's Greatest Hits (I know, I know) and The
Thompson Twins Collection. Will I redeem myself if I tell you that today I received
my copy from Amazon.com of David Bowie's  Aladdin Sane? I have had the LP
since it came out, but I was suprised to discover recently that I didn't have the CD.

I also went to Target where I got what I really wanted. I bought the Prometheus
Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy Edition. It came with a really awesome little
photo book exclusive to the Target edition. I watched it last night and it is
really good. I also bought the Anniversary Steelbook Edition of
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. I've been holding off on buying this movie
for just the right edition and it payed off.

Anyway, that was my Tuesday.

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Years ago, 1995 to be exact, I had a friend who worked at a
movie theater and he gave me the trailer for the movie,
Halloween (6): The Curse of Michael Myers.

Monday, October 8, 2012

Here's Thomas Hewitt AKA Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw
Massacre: The Beginning (2006). This is a NECA box set (to remain unopened)
featuring good ol' Thomas making Eric's life kind of a living, breathing nightmare.
This box set can be pretty expensive these days. I bought it on clearance a few
years ago for a really low price. Maybe 1/10th of what it sells for today. Huzzah!

Movie's Body Count: 11 - Yikes.

Sunday, October 7, 2012

Several years ago this RIP Halloween store opened up in the middle
of August. I was pretty excited about it. Turns out that their prices were
sky high. I think I bought one little skull from them for a few dollars and
that was it for the entire season. This building must like Halloween. This
year the Spirit Halloween Store is there. Much better store.

Saturday, October 6, 2012

SMILE!
Only 26 more days until Halloween!
I bought the guy on the left at a Spirit store about six years ago.
My mom bought the guy on the right for me.

Friday, October 5, 2012

"It's Halloween, everyone's entitled to one good scare."
Sheriff Leigh Brackett - Halloween (1978)
And I suppose the above picture displays our one good scare. Gas prices
in beautiful Southern California rose twenty to thirty cents... overnight.

Thursday, October 4, 2012

My Jason Voorhees (from the remake) figure looks a little confused
surrounded by all those angels. He doesn't quite look like he knows
where to turn next. I'm sure he'll figure it out. He always does. He is a
Mezco Cinema of Fear 2009 seven inch figure. Not my favorite of
the Friday the 13th figures.

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

When I bought the for the most part good documentary on
the Friday the 13th movies, it came with this poster. The doc
is called His Name Was Jason (I don't know what's with the
"his name WAS Jason". I mean, Jason lives forever. So get a
grip title makers.) and unfortunately, the poster comes all folded
up in the DVD case and the creases are there forever.

I bought a very inexpensive poster frame at Walmart and framed
my all time favorite slasher. Maybe someday I'll put it in
a better frame. Not sure.

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

"Ahem... Good eve-en-ing."
I bought this bust at Michael's Craft Store a few years ago. Hey, coupon
power. I got a good deal. In low light he looks awesome.

Monday, October 1, 2012

It's October!
I think my first post of the Halloween season should be of two
guys that you have probably seen before. But now they are just
sitting (hanging) around in my closet waiting for their debut, which is
not soon in coming as there are no trick-r-treaters for them to frighten
in this neck of  the woods, ever. But someday.... someday....

(This picture kind of grosses me out, which is weird.)
