Here are some decorative rattlesnakes over at the
Indian Store. When was the last time you used the
words "decorative rattlesnakes" in a sentence?
Yeah, me too.

My son got these two battle bot things (I don't know what
they are really called) for Christmas. They are remote controlled.
There is a little cardboard battlefield setup included. You are supposed
to move your battle bot around the thing in an effort to laser kill the
other guy. Just another day at work. We haven't tried out it yet.

I took this picture of Randy Travis in
concert with my old flip phone. Fail.

Yeah, a new hat.

The beautiful TV at Borden Cinema finally gave up. It is
resting peacefully now after working so hard for me for
so long. We spent many great hours together. The photo
above shows Fry's Electronics. This is where I went for
a new television. Bigger and better this time. One door
closes, another door opens. 1080p, here I come.

I received this collapsible back scratcher for Christmas
and the pleasure it has brought to me is indescribable.

I work here. I'm a cop."

This is one of those cool electric cars for kids.

This was in my son's January Loot Crate.
What IS it?

It's a Loot Crate Exclusive  A  L  I  E  N  Facehugger plush.
I'm not going to describe what these guys do to humans.
It would come off a little too gross. But it is entertaining.
Alien is a 10/10 rated movie to be certain.

When this guy came out of the box with that goofy look on
his face I thought that the item was kind of weak, but it's
growing on me, in a good way.

Saturday, January 23, 2016

It's been pretty chilly around here lately.

Just kidding.

I'll try.

LeeLoo Dallas Multipass!
This is a Loot Crate Exclusive. It is LeeLoo's Multipass from the movie
"The Fifth Element".  My son gets the Loot Crates and he gave this to me
because I love the movie. When you see TFE you will know what a
Multipass is. See you on Fhloston Paradise!

Back again!

What to see... What to see... Hmmmmm....

Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Finally.

That was good. I loved it. This was 100% a worthy sequel
to the original trilogy. People are slamming it for one or two
good points. I can see that, but lighten up, folks. Lighten up.
Overall it is another "Star Wars" unlike Episodes 1 through 3.

I give this movie 10 out of 10 R2D2's.  Daisy Ridley is awesome
as Rey. She has the right combination of everything. Adam Driver's
(I had not seen him before this) Kylo Ren was full of bad assery.
Han and Chewie together again = tears. Anyway, if the next two are
like this, count me in. Kuchana-kuchana!

One more thought... After seeing Star Wars back in 1977 I had
heard that they were making two sequels. I remember thinking that
they couldn't really do this. Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford would
surely become much too old. Well, here we are more years later than
I could have ever imagined and it freaks me out a little. *shakes it off*

Oh, and I like the little Regal logo on the 3D glasses.
Cool touch.

Happy National Popcorn Day 2016!

Monday, January 18, 2016

Pretty sure that neither one of these guys
will be able to provide a valid driver's license.

Somebody in this photo took all of the crushed red
peppers for their pizza leaving zero for anybody else.
#sadface

Here is some crushed red pepper on a previous
trip to Little Caesar's Pizza. I use a lot.

The old Bates place looks pretty lonely down there in 1987.

Friday, January 15, 2016

January 15th is National Hat Day.
Happy National Hat Day, 2016!

I bought "The Martian" because I had heard it was really good.
I heard right. I watched it tonight and it IS really good. Don't
want to give any spoilers. I am not a Matt Damon fan,
at all.... but he was good.

There is a gag reel on the Blu-ray. I am all OVER gag reels.
I love them. But I did not watch the one on "The Martian"
tonight because I want to be left with the feeling I have
from the movie itself. I am liking this feeling.

I bought this Homer Simpson figure at Comics-N-Stuff. It was
made for or by Kelston International in 1993. It originally came
with little stickers that you could attach to that "bubble" over
Homie's head. I got him loose in a plastic bag for $3.
Homer loooooves donuts.

I had my own Homer Simpson moment...
I was hungry late last night/early this morning and decided
to make up a batch of pancakes. I attacked them with my
Becker BK24 knife. They were much better than they looked.
DOH!

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

I received another coupon from Sports Chalet. $10, free and
clear. No restrictions. I love those. I get them maybe two times
a year. I actually went there on the 5th of January and it was
raining raining and raining.

I had planned on getting a Snow Peak Titanium Spork, but the
store was cleaned out at Christmas and all they had left was this
piece of..... My coupon was set to expire so I did buy this lousy
spoon. I bought a kind of decent small Silva compass too.
That was good.

Today I bought David Bowie's last album.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Back when it first came out, my son and I went to see
"Paranormal Activity" in the theater. Since then it has been
our tradition to see all the others in the theater as well. We
were REALLY looking forward to seeing this installment (#6)
in the theater but lo and behold it was given a limited release,
leaving us twisting in the wind.

This week it was finally released on Blu-ray! Huzzah! (I get much
too excited about these things.) People hate these movies and
while they are not the best pictures in the whole wide world,
we have a great time with them. Popcorn is at the ready.

I also got the "Robocop" remake because it came down in price.
It is almost sacreligous to remake this movie, but I am curious.
I have all the "Silent Night, Deadly Night" movies, but none on
Blu-ray. So when I discovered this 30th Anniversary Edition I
bought it. It is just a staple in my collection.

Give an amateur a camera, send them to the King Kong attraction
at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and this is what you will get back.

We lost David.
~ 1947 - 2016 ~
This is my very first David Bowie Album. "Pinups".
I bought it when I was 17 years old. I have loved David since
the first moment I heard him. I loved him even more after
the first time I saw him. This is a difficult morning.

I don't usually play the lottery, but holy cow...
I can't not play right about now.

Saturday, January 9, 2016

For my recent birthday I took a trip over to the mall
that is some distance away from home. I stopped for
one of my favorites: a Surf City Banana/Banana Smoothie.

Oh look! They brought over a brand new
kiddie ride in honor of my special day!

And I kept seeing this guy out of the corner of my eye. It
caused me to do more than one double take as I was
sitting on the bench balancing my checkbook and enjoying
my smoothie. Slightly distracting. He looks angry.

Friday, January 8, 2016

This is good. It has been quite a long while since I have
seen .22 ammunition at Walmart, magnum or otherwise.

I bought this for myself for my recent birthday. It's for
my personal tool box. It is a ratcheting screwdriver
that can reach into tight spaces. If you do not have
your own toolbox, you are missing out.

Thursday, January 7, 2016

I want this guy. But $49... Never gonna happen.
I even have a $50 gift card for Walmart and it
is STILL not going to happen. I guess I don't
want him all that bad.

I hope I don't change my mind.

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

It's a rainy El Nino day here at El Rancho De La Tex. I think we
should do that thing I've been wanting to do. Let's do it late tonight.

Yeah, let's go see Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight".
Last showing of the day, 9:50 PM. I like that.

Nobody is around. Perfect. Let's go in.

Closed the theater. 1 A.M. It's been a while since I have been able
to do that for a couple of reasons. I love closing the theater.
No free posters on the way out tonight though. Dang nabbit.

The Hateful Eight was good. I will start off by saying that for me
it is an 8 out of 10 on the first viewing. If you like QT and his talky
movies, you will probably like this, if not...

As westerns go, it was good. The music by Ennio Morricone is
superb. The hardware is interesting. I am not a big "westerns in the
snow" person, but for this movie it was fine. Lot's of fun little homages
to westerns of the past that ere fun to pick out, as are the QT "Easter
Eggs". One of my favorite homages is the stagecoach stop. It is glorious.

Kurt Russell? Always the best. Jennifer Jason Leigh
almost stole the show. Samuel Jackson is SJ. Great cast
all around. I will buy it and watch it again with delight.

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

It's been raining this week and I saw a rainbow as I was driving.
I stopped and took a few pictures of it. From one end...

...to the other.

I've been wanting "Gone Girl" for a while. It looks.... intriguing.
It's stars the handsome Ben Affleck who is hit and miss with me.
I love his brother Casey a lot, but Ben is, like I say, hit and miss.
 The DVD was under $7.

(Later that night......) I watched "Gone Girl". This movie is twisted.
It is totally worth a watch, totally, but it is twisted. Twisted with a capital
T - W - I - S - T - E - D.
8/10

"The Wild Bunch". The two-disk DVD set for under $4.00.
Classic Sam Peckinpah.

I got a new belt buckle for my recent birthday. Now I
have to get the belt. Life has been kind of fun lately.
