Ghost Pepper Plant update!
I think it is looking pretty good for a plant
that I thought was buying the farm some months ago.
C'mon baby, give us a pepper!

"I am Chucky, the killer doll! And I dig it!"
I bought this Seed of Chucky stretchable toy/figure
a really long time ago, probably at a Spirit Store.
Because of the material he is made of I expected
him to deteriorate a long time ago, but so far so good.

I don't stretch him very often.

Unfortunately in this picture he is in my cabinet behind
some glass that really needs some Windex. (That circle
in front of his stomach is from a little suction cup that
was on the glass.)

Hey Jack in the Box!
I like what you've done with the place!

As I sit here at 5:30 AM preparing to get ready for work,
this picture is making my mouth water. This is not too
bad for a SALSA, that is MEDIUM heat.

It seems that for the last two years
every place I go I run into one of these.
Well...... not EVERY place, but you know
what I mean. A ton of places.

I bought another patch for my door.
Umbrella Corporation. The bottom one.
These things are getting kind of pricey.
They've gone up two dollars each
since I started collecting them.

Another thrift store movie haul!
Nothing REAL exciting, but

An extra special treat.
Little cupcakes from Walmart.

Friday, March 22, 2024

My much loved brother-in-law and his also much loved wife
paid a visit to us recently and he brought something along
for me. The 6-cell D Maglite pictured here is one that I bought
at.... yep, a big gun show probably 38 years ago. But I had
kind of left it by the wayside about 20 years ago as there
were better lights out there by then, LED lights.

Well, my B-I-L brought along an LED upgrade kit for this light
and it has breathed new life into it. It is kind of a monster now.
It is back in the rotation!

I had also at the show bought a Pachmayr "Sure Grip" for
the light. It allows for a better grip and the metal of
the light is not quite so rough on the
hands during cold weather.

This light could also serve double-duty
as a coyote-knocker-outer in
an emergency.

My brother-in-law also brought me a brand NEW flashlight.
A Mini Maglite LED 2AA flashlight. I'm tellin' ya, Maglite
has pretty much stepped up their game with Mini Mags.
With two different power settings,
this little thing is a beast.

This was my very first Maglite, a Mini Mag 2AA Xenon
flashlight. I carried this light for many many years. The
output does not hold a candle to the new LED
lights. But at the time it did not bother me
at all (didn't know any better) and I was
real happy to have it.

It was so great to spend time with my brother-in-law
and his wife. We hope to do it again soon. And
I ate a'WAY too much.

I finally, FINALLY found the Justin black belt in
my size that I need for work. It took a long time,
but victory is mine. Today Boot Barn's stock
was overflowing. When it rains...

Trails West at the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.
I recorded this video with my point and shoot camera in
2010. I really liked this area of the museum (you know this if you have
been visiting me for a while). I would usually visit the museum in
August and it would be close to 100 degrees out there.
I liked it.
(Watch your volume. It might be a little loud.)

~ Happy St. Patrick's Day 2024! ~

Thursday, March 14, 2024

I've been meaning to make this post for, ahem.... a while
now. Back on Saturday, February 1, 2020 I put this
avocado seed in water expecting to eventually plant it
in dirt. Well, after some months, after it grunted and
groaned and pushed out a few roots from the bottom
and some pretty weird things from the top,
it just rotted away.

I never did make the follow up post. I just kept putting it
off. Well, this is that post. I might try again when I come
across another seed. But for now, this was a huge FAIL.

Hey there, lonely boy, lonely boy.
Let me make your broken heart like new.

"Hey There Lonely Boy" was written by Earl Shuman
and Leon Carr. Recorded by Ruby and the Romantics.

Monday, March 11, 2024

I once again must just be out of the loop on this.
This is not something I see everyday. I have no
idea what kind of car this is. Kinda cool though.

How about a little Halloween in March? Works for me!
These pictures from our Annual Halloween Crawl last year
slipped through the cracks so I want to post them today.
This is fairy jewelry from the Spirit Halloween store.
Sometimes you just have to have fairy jewelry.
You know it's true.

Wo. Those are some eensie mushrooms.
I wonder if Spirit had to wrestle these away
from the fairies or if they part with
them willingly.

~ Captain Jack Sparrow ~
"I love this song. Really bad eggs. When I get the Pearl
back, I'm gonna teach it to the whole crew,
and we'll sing it all the time."

During one of my son's trips to Salem, Massachusetts
he bought this framed print of a drawing done by an artist
who's name escapes me. She signed it, but I cannot really
make it out. This was in 2007. All these years later,
I still love Captain Jack.

!!! KIND OF A BONUS PHOTO !!!
Our little ghost pepper plant seems to be giving us a
second chance. I apparently did not do it in with my
pruning. This is good news to us at The Ranch as we
REALLY want to sample a ghost pepper. Our
mouths have been watering since we planted
this from seed back in June of last year.

It's Knife Day again here at El Rancho De La Tex!
This is one of the strangest knives I own. The thermoplastic
sheath and handle are in such a bright neon yellow
color that I can barely get a not even
halfway decent picture of it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Gerber
Blackie Collins Buddy System Neck Knife.

The blade is 440 stainless (whoop-dee-doo) steel and is
a little over 2 inches long. I bought it at a HUGE gun show
probably 30 years ago and I remember carrying it the day
I bought it and never did again. It's never been sharpened.

This is a weird knife and that is all I know.
I'm sure that I will never ever carry it.

Even weird Knife Days are pretty. dang. cool.

Sunday, February 25, 2024

Over at one of our favorite places, the Indian Store, they
have some nice busts representing Native Americans
of various tribes. The gentleman above is of the
Arikara tribe out of Missouri.

And these gentleman (starting on the left) are from
the Apache tribe out of Arizona, the Chinook tribe
out of Washington and Oregon and the
Piegan tribe of Northern Montana.

A way long time ago when my son was little and my
beloved stepfather was still with us, I took my first
trip to the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.
The museum was very young then. While there I bought
this greeting card in the Museum Store as it
reminded me of my son and his grandpa as they
rode around The Ranch on the ATVs.

I framed it and we gave it to my stepfather. He hung
it up and it has been there ever since. It is a
great picture and a wonderful memory.

This fungus is growing on a log around here.
I don't know what kind (split gill?) it is.
I'm not in love with fungi.

I spotted a simple purple flower today.

Yep, I am trying to not collect stuff like this anymore
and for the most part I have been very successful at it.
But when I spotted this Friday the 13th Part 3 3D poster
box at Walmart, I knew I would KICK myself later if
I did not pick it up. I LOVE F13 and Part 3 is
my favorite of the series.

So I decided to use some of the birthday gift
money I had saved to buy it.

The box it comes in is actually very nice. It is collector
friendly as the front cover hinges open and closed
using a magnet. No ripping stuff apart.

This is the 3D box in the flesh. Now, do
I display it in the box? Or do I 86 the box
and hang the thing on the wall. Oh man. This
part is always difficult.

Walmart had other movie boxes as well. I remember seeing
boxes representing IT and Child's Play. There were probably
about four others, I cannot remember. The kind of tricky thing
with THIS box is that the blood you see dripping and pooling
there? The two little "blood" pieces come separately and it is
up to us to place them in the correct spots.

The bottom one was not too difficult, but the knife tip drip was
a bit of a bear. I had to use the tiniest bit of white glue to keep
it in place once I was able to get it into position.
You just gotta be prepared for that.

I really like this box. Not sorry I bought it.
 I mean, Part 3. That's my jam.

Look for 3DEEP VHS by Culturefly.
