A couple of days ago I showed that LootCrate for nerds
that arrived for my son. He opened it and here are a couple
of things that were in it. First up are some dice that came in
a little velvet(ine) drawstring bag. They are "Scissors Rock
Paper" dice that you can roll in lieu of using your hands.
Kind of neat in a conversation piece sort of way.

And this guy... THIS guy is fun. He is this little ant like character
that runs on batteries and is crazy fast. He never gets stuck at
walls or anything and is really fun to watch and run from.

I told ya, nerd stuff.

These look like really old cattle chutes. They are
just down the street from where I fill up with gas.

Thursday, February 26, 2015

While standing in front of this fence I have the
crazy feeling that I am being watched.

I bought Ringo Starr's Icon CD. Who doesn't
love Ringo Starr? What? You? Oh... sorry.
Well I've been wanting him for a good price and
$7.00 was pretty good for 11 hits. On a shallow note,
I think Ringo has become really handsome with age.

The Easter stuff is out at Walmart (I resisted any
candy this time around) and I found this sign in
that aisle. I bought it for my son... for fun.

I like this picture my camera
took of the moon.

Around El Rancho De La Tex today...
I love beautiful rock and I love succulents and
I love succulents that grow out of rock.

It appears that some little critter has been having
his way with a locally grown macadamia nut.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Today I have a little hodgepodge of stuff here at El Rancho De La Tex.
It is downright chilly outside. Beautiful clouds over the mountains.

Another of those "lootcrate" for nerds arrived for my son today.
We will have to get that to him to open. He gave me that cool
Star Wars comic book out of the last one. Chinese fortune
read: "May you live in interesting times." It's happening man,
it's happening.

A couple of boxes that my beloved skulls came in.
Cramped quarters to be certain.

And what I am really hoping for is that tonight, late, there will be
some of this German chocolate cake left to eat.
Oh man. It's good.... with a
capital GOOD.

This is a fun day. I may have more hodgepodge later.

Well, that's the end of the road.

Saturday, February 21, 2015

We've seen this Ghostface before. We've seen this E.T.
before. But we've not seen them since they decided to
pal around.

If you can't stop, smile on the way by!
Just fooling. You had better stop.

I had thought that this structure in Julian California was
one of their icons. Sometime back I found some information
about it, but I for the life of me cannot find it again. I cannot
find anything about it at all. So, I guess icon is out the window.

Oh, and I bought this really pretty bandanna at Walmart today.
It's hanging in my shower to dry as I was hand washing the
Walmart out of  it. It was only a dollar, so what the hay. They
can be used for so many different things.

Here are a couple of my Queen concert ticket stubs. One is 1976
and the other is around the same time period. I saw them I think
three times at the Santa Monica Civic and I was practically sitting
in Freddie Mercury's lap each time. Not many people knew who
they were in those days. Stone Cold Crazy was a highlight.

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

I've heard no good things about this movie but it's
an "at the end of the" movie and those are very intriguing.
So for $5 I bought it. I watched it. It was okay. I kind
of like Jennifer Lawrence. But don't pay more than $5 if
you want to buy it. Better yet, hold out for $3 at Big Lots.

Sometimes when I am hungry, like today, I
like to revisit past glorious meals. Behold
the Wienerschnitzel hot dog. I would like
one now. That would be good.

I went out today to get my new Becker BK14 Eskabar
knife dirty. I cut a couple of small logs in half...

...and I did some batoning on a couple of smaller sticks. I found
some nice tinder inside them. This wood is pretty dry. The BK14
is outstanding. The edge held very nicely and is still plenty danged
sharp after all of the chopping. I'm loving this knife more and more.

I also love cute little cacti.

The little insect trap that can bring
fruit production to it's knees.

Saturday, February 14, 2015

Today was warm and beautiful, even at Walmart.

I pass by these rocks from time to time.
When I see them I always think to myself, "They could
have done a bit better in the attractive rock department."

P.S. Happy Valentine's Day.

Happy Friday The 13th, February 2015!
In the picture above is my Cinema of Fear 3.75 inch
Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees figure.

Have a great Friday the 13th!

A local newspaper rack. It helps to be bilingual.

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

I've been waiting for this one. Nighcrawler. I wanted to see it
in the theater and wasn't able to. I hear it's pretty good. Some
say one of the best of 2014. And again, I think Jake Gyllenhaal
does some really good things. And The Simpsons Season Fifteen
finally came down in price. $8.99 at Target. One day I will have
all of The Simpsons.

Savor the day! I'm on my way to...

...doing just that! M-m-m-m-m. Bacon.

Target Restroom.
This is just so wrong.

Sunday, February 8, 2015

A year or two or three ago I spotted this little
M&M's Blockbuster box when I was shopping around
for used DVDs. All it had in it was a regular bag of M&Ms
but this little tin box is great. You can't tell by the photo but
it is all embossed. I use it to store my movie ticket stubs.

Saturday, February 7, 2015

I went into to town to eat at Carl's Jr. When I got there,
the guy was locking the front door. I said, "Hey, the sign says
you're open 24 hours." He said, "Yes, but not in a row."

Your suspicions are entirely correct. I pinched that
joke from the very funny comedian, Steven Wright.

Friday, February 6, 2015

I finally found The Lone Ranger (2013) for a good price. This
thing just would not come down. I wanted it, but not for no
$27.00. I saw it in the theater and it was... okay. I want to see it
again. I also got Spinal Tap on DVD for like $2.97. I want to
watch this one with my son.

And speaking of The Lone Ranger... Below are pictures of the
movie's costumes. They are on display at the Gene Autry Museum
of Western Heritage and I was able to take the pictures on my
visit last August.

First up is Tonto's costume. Johnny Depp played the part on this
go 'round. They had virtually no information as to the authenticity of
the materials used or anything specific about either of the costumes.

For all I know this knife made from a railroad spike is
made of plastic. It looks real enough, but.... who knows.

And the Lone Ranger was played by Armie Hammer. I have no idea the
brand of the pistol and I could not make out the maker of the leather.
Just a little disappointing.

One thing I cannot figure out is why the hammer is back on this pistol.
I don't believe there are any other pistols displayed with the hammer
back, nor would there be a reason for it. Could it have something to
do with Armie's last name? Nawww...   Anyway, I did enjoy seeing
these costumes. I always enjoy seeing movie costumes and props.

I have left the photos pretty danged large if you would like
to open them up in a new window to explore.

The American flag should never be used for advertising
purposes in any manner whatsoever.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

I don't usually post license plates, but there is no way
I can't share this one. I bet the waiting line for this Star
Wars license plate would be pretty dang long.

I've heard a lot about TUSK, both good and bad
(mostly not so great), and I have been holding out for
weeks, but my (Human Centipede like) curiosity is getting
the best of me, so here it is.

I also shoplifted this bottle of Hoppe's (pronounced
hop-eez if you please) gun oil. That's right, I stole it.
I didn't mean to. I forgot to put it on the "belt" and
I walked out with it in the bottom of my cart. My bad.
I will make good on it next week when I go back. I may
be a few things, but thief ain't one of 'em.

I just noticed something in the background of
this picture...

 Spa-a-a-a-rta!

I went to see American Sniper.
