I remember being out in the car with my dad once when I
was about seven years old. He said, "Want some beef jerky?"
I thought he called me a jerk. I had never heard of beef jerky
before and all I heard was the "jerky" part. Anyway, he pulled
over into a liquor store, bought some and let me try it. It was
great. Since then I've always loved beef jerky.

But this stuff, the stuff pictured above... just not sure. I see it
and I keep trying different kinds (the spicier, hotter and
pepperier the better), but this stuff always lets me down. And did
you ever notice that in every bag there is a least one big hunk
that tastes REALLY RANK?

I can't figure that one out. It's kind of like every time you order
seasoned curly fries from Jack in the Box, you get one regular
french fry in with all the curlies. I had thought that it might be
good luck, but I don't really think that anymore.

Oh Evercleeeeaarrr! Where aaarrrre you? Where are you Everclear?

Theeeerrreee you are! Let's go home.

My son and I went to the REGAL CIN  AS last
night to see...

...Kick Ass 2. And it did Kick Ass.

My tickets which via the Regal Crown Club
earned me a free small popcorn which always
softens the snack bar blow a bit. They also afford
me the opportunity to complete an online survey
where I am able to compliment an associate and
maybe win a contest to boot.

My son usually wins or buys something for me from the
arcade area and last night he got this cute little monkey
for me. He looks like he is trying to break out of
there. The monkey doesn't look happy at all
but  he is still real cute.

Well looky here. It's the NECA Kick Ass 2 figures!

Hit-Girl. Morality aside, I think she is so awesome.

And of course Kick Ass himself. I bought these two
figures the other day and I still have one more to get:
MF'er. That may or may not happen due to stuff.

The movie itself was fantastic. Both my son and I agreed
that we were not disappointed in the slightest. We couldn't
think of anything that would have made the movie any better
or more fun. If you go to see Kick Ass 2, stay through the
credits. That's a must. I can't wait to get it on Blu-ray to
watch again.

These are the two watches I wear most often. The black one
is a Timex Expedition and the other one is just a Timex generic
that my mom gave to me for my birthday about twelve years ago.
Timex makes danged good watches. I like the Expedition because
it is waterproof and I don't worry about wrecking it.

The reason I posted these today is because of something I heard
talked about on the radio last night. I hear that a LOT of people
do not wear watches anymore. They use their smartphones for time.
Really? I can't fathom it. No wonder so many people ask me for the
time these days. Their phones must be dead. That's all I can figure.

I'm eklektick.
I was really happy to find a Kenny G CD that I don't
have. I love that guy's music. Don't judge me.

I know I know. Yer just sayin.

Coupons can be awesome. Every once in a while, Sport Chalet
sends me a coupon good for $10 on anything I want. So today
I wandered over there. Today the sky was overcast.

Sure, the coupons often times encourage me to spend more than
$10. That is the great plan. But I bought $24 worth of stuff that I
had wanted for a while anyway for only $14. I bought a compass case,
a pot grabber for using when cooking over a fire or camp stove, and a
couple of Nite Ize S-Biners. You can never have too many S-Biners.

One of my compasses. This one is a Silva Ranger and will
go into the case I bought today.

My mom recently went to Maine to visit our family and she
brought back a few little fun things for me. She brought
this magnet for me which now resides on my file cabinet.
I don't believe she has ever bought me a magnet before. I think
this is what they call "synchroneity" or "synchronicity", take
your pick. (See 8/23 if you please.)

If you have never had the pleasure of coming upon a moose standing
in-between where it is you currently are, and where you wish to be,
you have never lived. Mom brought this shirt back for me also. I
think it's really pretty. Maine is moose country.

I was going to make a cliched remark about being fenced in,
being a prisoner of sorts no matter where you go in life, but I
decided against it. Good call, eh?

By the way, that is all a parking lot down there now.

When I was 23 my mom gave me a two drawer steel file cabinet
for Christmas. I've used that file cabinet ever since. A few years
back I finally ran out of room in that one, so for Christmas my mom
bought me another file cabinet.

The above photo was from the day we went FC shopping. We bought
the second one from the left. If you are young and have never had one,
get one. Keep records, receipts, paid bills. Heck, throw any ol' thing in
there you don't want to lose. Someday, you will be glad you did that.

One fun thing that I've done with mine is to load them up with
collectible magnets. Any magnets I've collected over
the years have gone onto my file cabinet

Next up? Date books.

I was thinking about my dog today. This is Corky and we got him
from the pound when I was young. He was I think about 14 when
we lost him. Everybody thinks their dog was the best dog ever,
and I feel the same way about Corky. He truly was and I
hope to see him again someday.

===============================================

I bought this sign at Blockbuster Video a few years ago. I
paid $4 for it down from like 18 or 19 dollars. Future movie
room stuff. I keep dreaming that one day I will have a cool
dedicated home theater. It will never happen, but thinking
about it is fun.

Some weeks ago I posted a picture of this hand dryer in a
public restroom and commenting that I didn't care for them.
Well Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you...

...The Predecessor! Did you ever see anybody walking out
of the restroom after using one of these things? Were they ever
not wiping their hands on their clothing? Nobody has the time for
these things to even get close to completely drying their digits.

Damn droids.

Stay tuned for my preferred public restroom hand drying system.
And it will be yours too.

I first saw Apocalypse Now in Westwood CA, at the Picfair Theater
on Pico & Fairfax in 1979 when it opened. It has been my
all time favorite movie since that night. I have the program for the
movie but nothing else. I mean, for my ALL TIME FAVORITE
MOVIE, I have nothing else. I can't afford what I really want
which is a scale model of PBR Street Gang, so.....

...enter the poster. I bought it from Amazon for about seven dollars.
I bought the frame today and here it is. I like it and it now hangs
above the Indiana Jones poster that I got at the theater when I went to
see, to see. to see, well I can't remember what I saw, but Indiana is a
cool poster too. They are both 11 x 17".

"Hello Almighty, Almighty, this is PBR Street Gang - radio check, over."

================================================

Later that night...

Man, I sure wish I could have one of these delivered tonight, but
where we live, they don't deliver. Too far into the hills for
them to go. There are more advantages to living here than
disadvantages, but I sure could go for a pizza.

Monday, August 19, 2013

I went to Michaels Craft Store today.
The Halloween stuff is OUT!

Man! They got stuff to the left!

They got stuff to the right!

And Lemax® Spooky Town is out in FORCE! But you might
want to get there before this stuff is all torn to shreds as we
all know is going to happen. Michaels is not very hardcore
Halloween stuff, but it's fun stuff just the same.

Pretty soon it will be time to hit all the Halloween stores,
more than once if possible. I think that this year my son
just might be joining me for a full day of perusing.
That would be good.

At 11:00 PM tonight, nothing was open but
Jack in the Box... and this car.

I have no idea why the sign was in this car. My
camera does not take good pictures at night.

Landing at the Santa Monica Airport, circa 1964.
We came in over the Pacific Ocean. This photo was
taken when we were about right over our house.

You can see McDonnell Douglas to the left of the runway
and to the left of that, the building with the little tower is the
Los Angeles California Temple on Santa Monica Blvd. The
big empty space at the lower right hand corner is the Penmar
Golf Course. The photo will open large in a new tab or window.

Thursday, August 15, 2013

I've wanted to get this, but never badly enough until the other
day when I saw a little of it on TV. It was really good from
what I saw. So yesterday I go to Walmart, no Cars. I go to
Target, no Cars. I go to Best Buy, no Cars. I go to Fry's,
same thing. Man, frustrating. But today after work I went to
another Target and they had it. Behold, victory is MINE!

This movie is in the top three highest priced movies I have ever
purchased. But I'm thinkin' it will be worth it. And I also
received 150 points when I entered the code at the Disney
Rewards website. A good deal thinks you, says I.

Next up, Toy Story 1, 2 & 3.

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

I can't believe it. Eyelashes on yet another car.

There is something going on that I am not hip to.

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I've never been in a town where people love their sports
teams quite as much as San Diego loves their Padres and
Chargers. But me? Win or lose, I will always be a
Los Angeles Dodgers girl.

Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein as presented by the Universal
Studios Monsters Collection.

Sunday, August 11, 2013

I guess that at this point no explanation is needed, other than
to say, oink.

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I completed an online survey for Subway restaurants and got
this swell cookie for free tonight. I also have two tacos and a
(huge) slice of pizza coming my way. Surveys are also a really
great way to (hopefully) ensure that managers recognize employees
for the hard work that they perform.

When checking out of a store or restaurant, ask the associate their name
and ask them if they get credit when they are mentioned favorably in a survey.
Just do it for somebody even if they didn't jump through a hoop for you
personally. I can guarantee you that they jump through hoops constantly.
And survey responses mean a lot to them.

Anything new in the paper today, Pa?
What?
I say, anything new in the paper today?
I love you too, sweetheart.

Thursday, August 8, 2013

I also like these colors in the crafts section at Walmart.
They remind me of Easter. I love the Easter section
during.... Easter.

Wednesday, August 7, 2013

Hey, I'm all about musical experimentation (sometimes). So
I dropped five dollars and bought this CD by "Bronco" entitled,
"Pura Sangre" which I am thinking translates to something like,
"bad ass horse perfection". If this is the polka sounding type music
that I suspect it is, and happen to enjoy, I will be happy.
(I found out that it is.)

Holy MOLY! I had no idea that I was going to get this poster too!
This seals the deal. Five dollars officially not thrown away.

I had to post this one photo a little larger. I am in awe. Just. in. awe.
"Bronco" is now a whole lotta iPod love.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

I love these letters in the Walmart crafts section.
The colors are delicious. Except for the gray.
Gray is not really delicious.

Monday, August 5, 2013

"Sisterz 4 LiFe"
And everybody who uses this restroom is gonna know it.
Huzzah!

Sunday, August 4, 2013

This is my Mezco Toyz Cinema of Fear Screen Grabs Series 1 Diorama
from the movie "A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". I bought
this a few years ago clearance priced for just a few dollars. It shows Freddy
Krueger as his snake self chowing down on Kristen who was played by Patricia
Arquette. And of course the ever fantastic Robert Englund played Freddy.

~ #2 In The "Oops" Shots Series: Oops Behind The Wheel ~
I am sure glad this is digital and not real film I'm using.
These accidental  "oops" shots I do would use up a lot
of my money.
