Knights of Columbus, 2008.

I bought this handbag with "cowgirls" on it
years ago at a thrift store. I don't use it. It's
just to look at.

These boulders do not like
to sit still when it rains.

Friday, March 24, 2023

We've been getting some much needed rain here at
The Ranch. Buckets of rainwater all around.

And weeds popping up everywhere.

This little bird...

...has been pecking at/attacking our...

...window for hours on end for about 5 days now. It seems
he is a bit territorial and is attacking his own reflection.
We have tried almost everything to get him to stop, but
to no avail. Our next move is to place a mirror or the like
someplace out there in hopes that he will attack his image
in that instead of our windows. Time will tell.

Of course, the "territorial" thing is all
speculation. We could be wrong.

He is a beautiful little bird.

A Texas Ranger Carriage toy that was given to me as a fun
Christmas gift many, many years ago. It's hanging on the wall.

Wo. That Ranger ain't messing around with that 100 foot
long whip. Them horses best git along.

Saint Anthony
at The Indian Store.

My son and I liked this movie, but I was going to buy it even if
we did not think that much of it because as I wrote on Friday,
January 27, this was probably the last movie that we would ever be
able to see at our beloved Regal Theater. This Regal is set to close for
good, if it has not closed down already. This was a fun movie and
we both rated M3GAN "7 out of 10 Stretchy Ears".

And I found this movie at Walmart for just $3.74. The Last Boy
Scout is a movie that I have wanted to own for a LONG time.
I never ran across it until now and the price was G-R-E-A-T.
I will watch this one REALLY soon.

I didn't hear the greatest things about 2021's Candyman (the original
is a CLASSIC 10/10 movie) so I held off on buying it for a long time.
I actually didn't know if I would EVER buy it. But the price at Walmart
came down to $3.74 so I picked it up. It is produced by Jordan Peele and
he has directed some interesting things... so we will see.

I think that Tony Todd (the original Candyman) has
a cameo(?) and they absolutely have to do right by him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

...a few days later.
I watched it and thought it was fun. I think it pretty much
was in keeping with the spirit of the 1992 Candyman. So much so that
I want to find the room to keep it with the those original movies. I rated
it a 7 out of 10 Art Galleries which may be a little bit high, but what
the heck, I enjoyed it. Keep your eye out for Tony Todd, superstar.

Just a recent updated picture of the
figures and such on top of my curio cabinets.
They all mean something to me in
one way or another.

Yaaaarrrrrrr!

I bought this postcard probably sometime in the mid 1960's
on one of our trips across the country. I most likely picked it
up in Arizona or New Mexico. I thought it was real cool back
when I was young. You didn't often see things like this back
then. No Internet, ya know? Anyway, say hi to "Esther - A Cliff
Dwelling Indian maiden who lived 1500 years ago."

She used Brand X. Tee hee.

The back of the postcard.

These days I suppose most of us would hope that
our bodies don't end up as the punchline on a
postcard in a trading post.

But I don't dwell (no pun intended) on that too much.

A recent acquisition.
This is not a real firearm. This is a non-firing replica produced by
Denix out of Spain. I bought this replica for fun and display purposes.
This 4 3/4 inch replica of a Colt (kind of) single action pistol is an
item that will never leave The Ranch. And in my mind, muscle memory
requires that it should always be handled as though it were live.
Safe gun handling rules still apply.

Truth be told, this is not the most well made item I have ever owned.
Would I buy it again? I am 50/50 on that. I half expect it to fall apart
with regular dry firing. A screw already fell out. I will remedy that with
some Loctite at some point. Slightly gentle handing is in this
replica's future because when and if it breaks,
game over. That's all she wrote.

The pistol is not real, but I wanted to acquire a real holster for it. And I did.
This is a California Slim Jim holster made by Don Hume out of Miami, OK.
I never knew there WAS a Miami in Oklahoma. Although I have known the
name Don Hume for many years, I never had any of his leather. The holster fits
the pistol as it said it would (and is just getting better over time). The leather
carving is very simple, tasteful and well done. For the price, I am dang satisfied.

Here is the back of the holster. And again, for the LOW price I paid I never expected
this level of craftsmanship. It is unlined but the inside is finished well enough to the
point that it almost feels as though it is. Anyway, I would have no issues with trusting
this holster to house my actual firearms safely and securely.

And like I wrote, this pistol is for fun and
to display and I think it fits the bill.

Waiting for the dentist to come in for an examination
and consult. This visit was so dang unfruitful (to put it mildly)
that even after being a loyal patient for over 20 years I
am seriously reconsidering my membership.

I have never ever experienced the lack of
care that I experienced today.

And that's the name of THAT tune.

Here is a leather belt pouch for a zippo lighter.
I don't really use the pouch, but it is still cool to have.

This pouch has a metal belt clip as opposed to the
leather loop that others have. I have one of each.
I prefer the metal. It seems more secure.

The more you know.

Borden Cinema is floating the idea of a Five Night
Musical Spectacular starting this coming Tuesday. It might
not come about THIS week, but the possibility is strong.

And what do the judges say?!

Hurrah!

Project APF-UL
Per the Institute of Aggressive Behavior
(IAB), "this animation has driven some
subjects to actions of violence. View
at your own risk and at the risk of
others in the
immediate vicinity."

Seems legit except... Wait a second.
Those are my pliers.

These cute little pigs from my Pass the Pigs game
are wishing you and all the pigs a happy
National Pig Day for 2023!

Personally, I think they could have
worded that better.
