For those of us who don't know the difference.

I always liked this picture at the entrance to the lower level
of the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. And just
look at the beautiful tool work on that saddle. Man, there is so
much to see at this museum. This was August of 2012.

Have you ever felt like this?
Yeah me too.

I went to the movies again today...

...Theater 7 to see...

!!! GODZILLA !!!
I saw it in 3D, not IMAX, just 3D. It was.... okay. Pretty good in
parts. It just didn't quite win me over. Let's just say, I was not an
Iron Man fan when I first went to an Iron Man movie. Now I totally
am. I was not an Avengers fan when I saw that movie. But now
I like The Avengers. Godzilla? I was having a difficult time
suspending my disbelief for this one. And I am usually pretty
darn easy in that department.

And I just didn't care about anybody in the movie.... at all.
Not like Pepper and Tony who never fail to tug at my heart strings.
Anyway, it is at least worth a rental when it comes out on DVD or
Blu-ray. But hey, I did have a good time at the movies today.

Maleficent.
THIS one is next on my itinerary (if all goes right).

P.S. Oh darn. I forgot to drop my 3D glasses in
the bucket again. My bad.

~ Memorial Day, 2014 ~

Friday, May 23, 2014

This is the fence in front of a home in Ojai, CA. When I was
about sixteen I knew a long haired fella who named his little
puppy after Ojai. Back then it seemed a very far off place.
Now I know it as a place that I have been to quite frequently.

I went grocery shopping today. While at Walmart I saw
a "fireworks" display. Darn early says I. But they aren't real
fireworks. They are like party poppers all of them. I haven't seen
real fireworks in years. Kinda sucks. Anyway, my son has always had
fun with these string popper dealies so I bought a few boxes for him.

I went over to World Market to look around and ended up buying
a "Fish Bowl" of party snacks. It has stuff in it like rice crackers, honey
roasted peanuts and wasabi green peas. It's good munchin' and for
$6.99 it should be. I used to get these for Christmas on occasion.

And last but not least, Curse of Chucky finally came down in price so
I bought it and watched it tonight. Holy cow, that was fun. Totally
worth the $9.69 price tag. The ending(s) was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. If you
like Child's Play, you gotta see this one.

This is the Casa Del Prado Theater in San Diego at Balboa
Park. The theater hosts the San Diego Junior Theatre, the
country's oldest children's theatre program.

Look up the word "lame" in the dictionary and
you will see a picture of my Band-Aid.

My son gave this crystal decoration to me for my
birthday this year. I hung it up next to my computer.

The Farberware bag clips work very good.
You should get some.
Don't fight this.
You will be happy.

~ Time You Will Never Get Back ~

Sunday, May 18, 2014

Ooooooooo... Look at all da purdy colooorrrs.

Saturday, May 17, 2014

The weather has cooled a bit, the wildfires have
thankfully died down, so let's take a nice deep
breath and look at a frog who is asking you
out for a date...

...and some grapes that are in bad need of some water
and are just starting to grow.

P.S. The wildfires didn't just die down on their own. Thank
you to all the beyond awesome first responders, firefighters
and everybody from all parts of the state and beyond for being
there for us. Not enough words for you all.

And please keep being there.
It is going to be a long hot summer.

It is now 1:34 AM and this is the Camp Pendleton fire. On my
last post earlier this evening (technically yesterday) I wrote that it
looked like the fire was picking up again. I was right. It is difficult
to get a perspective on the size of this fire, but if you look at the
photo on my last post, it helps. Smoke is in the air pretty good now.

My camera is not great for this stuff.

====================================================

And then today when I woke up, I took this picture from
my bedroom window. These fires at Camp Pendleton don't
want to give up the fight.

Thursday, May 15, 2014

The wildfires are back. Yesterday it was 108 degrees and
we had nine fires in San Diego County. When I went to work
it seemed to be touch and go at El Rancho De La Tex, but I
did go knowing that if I received a call to evacuate, I would
leave work immediately.

Wonder of wonders, when I got home from work later at night,
I was expecting to see flames all around as I have in the past, but
the fires seemed to be under control. We managed to get
a few hours of semi-uneasy sleep.

Then this morning I looked out my bathroom window to see
this over the ridge. This is from over in Carlsbad.

Then I looked on the other side and saw these starting back
up. This is Camp Pendleton.

But we have been really lucky so far. No fires too too close to us
and the smoke here is not bad at all. The weather will hopefully let up
tomorrow and maybe everybody will get a break. Stressful times
for many.

 ===============================================

Last one for today, I think.
I just took this one a few minutes ago. Sunset and the smoke from
the Camp Pendleton fire which looks like it is flaring up again.

There must be a hole or somethin'.

Saturday, May 10, 2014

Except for the wildfires that are starting to rear their ugly heads,
it's a beautiful day. This is the time of year that I start thinking
about my attempt at a yearly visit to the Gene Autry Museum
of Western Heritage in Griffith Park, CA. But you know all that.
So for today, here is a picture of the tower on the Autry grounds
that I took in August of 2012.

It's knife time at El Rancho De La Tex!

This is my Cold Steel Master Hunter with a Carbon V blade.
I couldn't get a good picture of this knife and it is kinda looking
a little worse for wear. The blade is pretty stained. It's carbon
steel and I have slacked in the Taking Good
Care Of It department.

This knife is actually a factory second that I bought from Cold Steel
at their booth at a gun show at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds
many years ago. A "factory second" meaning that I paid less for it as
it has a defect of some kind. In this case, a slightly mishapped
blade. It also does not have an original sheath. The one that
I have is Cordura (I believe) and works just fine.

We're back at the mall enjoying the skylight.

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I will have one of these for my purse, please.
Yes, one.. for my purse. That's right... Thank you.

"I'll get you for this, Pan, if it's the last thing I do!"
I forgot to post this picture yesterday. A few years ago
I found this little Smee figure from Peter Pan (on the right)
at a thrift store and yesterday at Comics ~N~ Stuff I found
a little Captain Hook to (almost) match him.
Tick-tock-tick-tock...

Went to SEARS. Outside it was cold.

Inside it was.... cold STEEL. The awesome cold
steel of an Irwin Original Vise-Grip. I bought this for
my tool box. Now I have a little one, and this one.
If you don't have a Vise-Grip, you need to get one.
Serious.

While at the mall I broke down and bought this CD.
The Moody Blues: Days of Future Past. I have been
wanting this for a really long time. But the price. I finally
did pay that price. This is not just a CD, it is an event.
Ever heard Nights In White Satin? Tuesday Afternoon?
This CD holds special memories for me.

And how could I not stop in here. Comics -N- Stuff.

I didn't get much this time. Just a Muftak figure. He was
loose in a bag and he's marked Kenner, 1998.  Muftak was
a character seen in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in Mos
Eisley on Tatooine, in Star Wars Episode 4. He's kind of
different and will look good on my SW shelf.

I was over at FYE and...

...I spotted this CD. Babies and thug life.
This can't be a good thing.

My Titanium Series Die Cast 3" Imperial Shuttle by Hasbro.
Pretty good detail. And maybe it's just me, but I see a
subliminal in there. It's probly just me. My bad.

Friday, May 2, 2014

Do people really have Serta Sheep?
Yep. I'm living (for the most part) proof.

"If you're good at something, never do it for free."
This is my "The Dark Knight" Joker Headknocker by Neca.
I found this guy at a Blockbuster store a few years ago. I actually
have two of them (one still in the box) because Blockbuster had
them clearance priced at about eight dollars. This is the
Heath Ledger Joker.
