Wanna see a cool lamp? Yeah? Okay.
My mom said that somebody had made this lamp for her
and her husband. But I said that since I am taking
it, he must have really made it.... for ME.

My Mezco "Gabriella" Living Dead Doll is wearing the
cutest little "The Ghoul" Halloween costume.

A few more friends. Nothing uncommon,
but I don't tell them that.

O B L I V I O N
I've really been wanting to see this movie. I wanted to see it in
the theater but it didn't pan out. Finally the Blu-ray price went down,
so today I bought it. I'm going to watch it tonight. Tom Cruise's
personal life aside, I really like him. He makes me happy when
I watch him. Did you ever see "Knight and Day"?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

~ Later ~
I watched Oblivion. Man oh man. That was a good one. I
am not disappointed at all and I totally recommend this one.
But I would bring one or two tissues to the viewing.
You might need them.

Interesting and pretty cloud thing going on here.
I took this just a while ago.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Back in 1967 I went with my mom, her girlfriend and her girlfriend's daughter
to Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. They wanted to see what that "Summer
of Love" thing was all about. While there we went to the Cost Plus store and
I bought this incense burner.

Closed incense burner.

Open incense burner.

That is Dirty Harry's Mod. 29 Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum
in the foreground and what I always think about when I see my
incense burner is that this scene from Magnum Force starring Clint
Eastwood as Harry Callahan was filmed at Cost Plus in 1973. (That
might just be my record for longest sentence ever.) Harry is about
to dispatch a few bad guys from in back of a two-way mirror.

Today I have a couple of things from Knott's (not Knox) Berry
Farm in Buena Park, California. Up first is this Good Luck coin.
I have no idea when I picked it up or if they still make 'em. On the
other side of the coin are a pair of crossed single action pistols,
the letter "K" and the words "Good Luck".
Coins like this are pretty cool.

They don't seem to have them much anymore. It's kinda like the
crushed penny machines have taken over.

Up next I have a little burro that I am pretty sure was a Knott's
collectible. The name that was originally on the white label there
has rubbed off. Again I have no idea when I picked this up, what
year it is from or if they still make 'em. He's about 2.5 inches tall.

And here is the back of the burro. Why a picture of the back of
the burro and not a photo of the back of the "Good Luck" coin
you ask? Well, I am half assed like that. Get it? Half assed?
Burro? Assed? Heh heh...  That's right, I went there!

Oh Tex, you are a card.

And if you squeeze him he says that.

Back in about 1980 I bought the first of these two skulls at the Main
Street Magic Shop in Disneyland. I bought the second one a year or
two later. They were $10.00 each. I have since learned that these
skulls have a history.

They were created by a company that made souvenirs for
Disneyland. Randy and Dotti Smith's company was called
Randotti and these are known as Randotti Skulls. I understand
they are somewhat collectible and not totally easy to come by.

Oh, they glow in the dark too and are really heavy. In a pinch
could be used as cannon balls.

This is Dalton's Roadhouse. It was a pretty good eatin' place.
Great burgers and salted peanuts in the shell. But I say
was a great place because...

...it's now under construction. Gonna be HOOTERS.
Thrilled... I'm sure.
(And the world's heart sighs.)

That's Captain Jack Sparrow, if you please.
A paperweight I bought some years ago at a
video store in the mall. Although in my much humbled
opinion, Captain Sparrow is quite above the "keeping
parchment in place" job.

These are just little Star Wars things I have. I don't know who
makes 'em or anything. Just a little Storm Trooper helmet of
sorts and a C3PO head.

Just snapped it while cruising.

I didn't even know that the Carrie remake was out on Blu-ray. But
it was and I bought it. And not for $31,99. I never would've paid
that. I also bought Smash Cut on Blu. I've seen this movie on the
shelves for a couple of years but they usually charge like $16.00 for it.
No way. But today? $3.00. Huzzah! It's probably not good.

I am a Lethal Weapon FREAK. I found parts 1 through
4 on Blu-ray, and with my $5 rewards coupon, I paid $9.99.
To me, a great deal. I love me some Martin Riggs.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

It's just that I've never seen anything like that, on a table,
in a restaurant, with so many people around.

Break break 19! How 'bout ya, Good Buddy? Ya got yer ears on?!
I know, corny... But citizens band radios were a lot of fun back in the
day. Used to be you needed a license to transmit, but not anymore.
And because of that everybody and their brothers jam the airwaves
with so much hash and trash it's hardly worth it anymore.
And footwarmers? Don't get me started.

Now, if'n y’all will excuse me I'm 10-100. 10-4?

Sunday, January 12, 2014

For some reason and I do not know why, I was compelled
to watch the football game today between San Diego and
Denver. First game I have watched in many years. It was
pretty good and... no spoilers here.

All I can imagine is that at some point in time this tree
thought, "Oh man... That reeeeaaally smarts."

Saturday, January 11, 2014

I wish I would have had somewhere to hang this.
It has just the right amount of "this" and just
the right amount of "that" and I like it.

Friday, January 10, 2014

It was my birthday not too long ago, so I figured what the heck
and took the extra longer drive over the to the mall to visit one
of my favorite stores, Comics-N-Stuff.

All I really found this time (even though I really like him) was this
Bart Simpson vinyl figure. He's from 1990 and has cloth clothing.
He is about 9 inches tall and looks to be in great condition. The
packaging is thrashed so I decided to take him out and display him.
Turns out that I don't have the right size doll stand, so for right
now he will stay in his bag.

Ay caramba!

A tradition! Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones!
This was the fifth movie in the franchise and I couldn't wait
to see this one. They usually come out in October but this
one was pushed back to January so the anticipation
had been building.

I took this picture just to see how well my older Razor
phone would work in a semi-darkened theater. It didn't.

Anyway...
We went to the latest showing (what else!) and once again
closed the theater. Ahhhhh, it feels good. Real good.

I thought that PA5 was one of the better movies in the series.
The movies are known for at least one outstanding scare (except
for part 4 which in my own opinion did not have one) and
The Marked Ones came through with a great one. Plus, the
ending left my pea brain with much to think about. Now I
really am hoping for a Part 6. I can't wait.... again.

I also via the Regal Club received another free movie ticket. I ask
you, how great is that? Wait, I'll tell you. Real great.

And it was poster night. This one features a movie to be released
soon about some Lego dudes or something. I have NO interest
in it at all, but as you know.... let's all say it together:

Lizzy is a poster whore.

THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT. Heh heh.

Coming to the end of an annual tradition: my mom's
Chex Mix. I love this stuff.

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Years ago one of the kids must have had some gum or
something stuck to the bottom of their shoe and brought
it in with them where they left it deposited on the
bathroom floor.

I think it looks like a bear.

My little spot on the WWW here seems to be stuck in Movie
Mode. But I must mark a sad occasion. Our last Blockbuster rental
store is going the way of mom and pop VHS stores. As in bye-bye.
Some would say karma. I don't know. This was the last place I
could buy used DVDs and Blu-rays.

Good deals abound for the most part. They will only be open for
about five more days, so most of the DVDs have now gone to
$1.99. I grabbed myself a few.

And this my friends, was a good deal for about $20. I wanted most
of these titles. I was holding out for a better price, and abracadabra
presto el magnifico! It a' happened!

R.I.P. Blockbuster. Some hated you. I kinda liked you.
And I sincerely hope all you folks who lost your jobs with
BB find something real real soon.

In 2003 on Tom Sawyer Island in Disneyland, California, this was
inside of Harper's Mill. I am told that after the "pirate" refurb of the
island in 2007, this is now called Lafitte's Tavern. I hope to
see it for myself someday. My son took this picture.

With a few Christmas type lights wrapped around the trees,
even a Walmart parking lot can appear to be somewhat...
cosmopolitan.

I'm going to file this one under:

I went to Walmart yesterday with one goal in mind: to
buy the movie "The Conjuring". People have been
saying that it is pretty darn scary and I would like to
watch it tonight with a bowl of popcorn.

Holy COW! Look at that PRICE!
I can't buy this for that price. And there is no less expensive
DVD only format anyplace in the store. $24.96 for a blind buy?!
No way! No way that I will even TOUCH that thing.

DOH!

==========================================

Later on...

Well, I did make some good popcorn in my Whirley Pop
popcorn popper...

...and I did sit down in the dark and watch The Conjuring.
Ho-lee COW that was a scary movie. I don't know that it was
$24.96 scary, but it was at least $15.00 scary. What the above
picture shows is me taking a bathroom break and being slightly
afraid to take the movie off of "pause". That does not happen
very often so, I give this movie a strong "Watch It!" rating.

This is one of my favorite things. I got this guy at a small nautical
themed shop on the West Coast. He is bound to show up on my
site again in one form or another. I've used him for lots of stuff.
