I bought "Interstellar" today. The movie comes with a
collectible film cell "from an actual 70MM film print".
The cell you get is random. The one I got... blows. It is
dark and shows the back of Matthew McConaughey's head.
But you know what? As always, you win some you lose
some. I read that one person received a cell that shows
"a frame from the fade out of the opening title". Ouch.
This is the Target Steelbook Exclusive Edition.
I can't wait to see the movie again.

Speaking of win some lose some... I have had a knife on
my Amazon Wish List for a few months. Last night it finally
went down in price 22%. I jumped on it. Fifteen hours or so
later it is back up to the regular price. I win. See? Cool.

What is a tree's least favorite month?
Sep-timber!

I took this tree picture today while
out and about.

This is the Bea Evenson Fountain in the Plaza de Balboa
in Balboa Park, California. It's nice to sit next to this
fountain on hot days. Every once in a while the mist hits
you and it feels so good.

Random road picture today.

A cactus shows happiness.

Here is the door of a Mercedes-Benz troop transport truck that is
in the queue of the Indiana Jones attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim,
CA. This is one of the original vehicles used in the movie "Indiana
Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark". My son took this picture
circa 2003.

And here is part of a little Tinker Bell keychain
that I bought on that same day. I love Tink.

Another soon to be victim of canine mirth.
The look on his face says it all.

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

I bought "Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunter" for five dollars
over at Walmart. I watched it and it was pretty fun. Lots
of good witch killing and the movie wasn't too drawn out
with an 88 minute run time. The witches looked bad ass,
especially Ingrid Bolso Berdal as the Horned Witch.
It is pretty much five dollars worth of fun.

If you are real hungry this McDonald's Big Mac meal
might look pretty good right about now. If you are not real
hungry, it probably does not.

On the other side of the tracks I think they would
say we are "repurposing" this ice chest. On this
side of the tracks we just say "I can't find the bucket,
let's use this here ice chest."

On the plus side, this is job security.

Saturday, March 21, 2015

When eating in a restaurant my number one rule is to not
sit with my back to the door. Rule number two is to sit
where I can see our car. Except for this time because
those are not our cars. Dang nabbit.

I really needed an Urban Cowboy fix tonight, so a trip to
Borden Cinema was in order. Sissy wants to ride the
mechanical bull at Gilley's Club in  Pasadena, Texas.
Husband Bud won't allow it. But she is going to do it
anyway and above you see her as she enters the club
in the late afternoon to do just that. When beloved Bud
finds out, there will be Hell to pay.

I love Bud and Sissy. Honorable mention goes out to
Sissy's friend, Jessie.

And please forgive me but I must post my Becker BK7
knife just one more time. I took it out to play again today
and it is becoming more and more mine. It made pretty
quick work of that wood you see pictured.

I found The Grand Budapest Hotel in the five dollar bin at
Walmart. I was surprised to find it there. Relatively new
movie and a four time Oscar winner at that. I watched it.
Not my favorite movie. It just didn't seem to "go anywhere".

Maybe I just don't got no culture.

AC/DC, Ballbreaker. This goes all OVER the place.
Another winner. I've said it before: You just cannot
go wrong with this band.

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

My new BK7 is dirty! Hoo-rah!
Personality begins.

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Two classics. One you see in school, the other
you see in the three dollar bin.

Monday, March 16, 2015

So what was in the box?

My brand new Becker BK7 Combat Utility knife.
This knife is just awesome so far. 7 inch blade.
12 7/8 inches overall. 1095 Cro-Van steel blade.

The BK2 and the BK14 knives that I bought both arrived
with less than great edges. I had to work on them both to
get a good edge. But this BK7 came out of the box so
sharp that it is scary. I can't wait to make this one mine.

The Molle compatible sheath is less than great. I might
work on finding a custom sheath. It will come down to funds.
These knives are not huge bank busters, but they are not
totally inexpensive either.

I saw this sign today while out and about. I don't know,
man. I imagine this prompts conversation in the cars behind them
all day long. I pixelated the "F" word not because I am a prude
(I am not proud to say that I use that word on occasion)
but because I am just not really wanting it all over my
home on the Net here. At least not unpixelated.
At least not today.

I wonder what could this be?! Stay tuned!

Aren't these pretty? I took this picture of these cute little
flowers behind our house yesterday.

It's Critter Day here at El Rancho De La Tex.

I saw this little beetle crossing the road and as soon as I
took a picture of him he just froze like he wanted me to
immortalize him. Yeah, that's it. I don't know what kind
of bug this is but he is not much bigger than a quarter.

Bigger critters like gophers can be a problem around here
so we have these traps that you bury at the entrance/exit to
their holes. There is a little window at the end of the cylindrical
trap letting gophers see the "light at the end of the tunnel".
They think they are exiting their little abode and
then....... SA-NAP! It's all over.

~ Happy Friday the 13th ~

Dear Ronald,
This does not make me hungry.
Regards,
Tex

Thursday, March 12, 2015

I was out today having some fun on this bee-U-tee-ful day
with my Becker BK2 (standing upright) and my Benchmade
550HG Griptilian knives and during my hike...

...I came across this amazing and obviously very ancient
carving. This proves that bow ties go back some.

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

I bought the White Zombie cd, "La Sexorcisto" and I
also bought "We Were Soldiers" on Blu-ray.

We Were Soldiers. Holy cow. Like seventy-five minutes
(my estimate) of pounding non-stop Vietnam firefight.
Everybody has their own personal feelings about movies
that depict war or war in general and it can be quite
a sensitive subject. Right?

In the last weeks I have seen this movie, Blackhawk
Down, American Sniper and The Hurt Locker. I had
never seen any of them before. Some intense viewing.

On the White Zombie cd, I really love the artwork inside.

Cool stuff in a body art / old school / grindhouse sort of way.

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Another old school motel sign.

Monday, March 9, 2015

I don't know what this guy's story is, but I think he is/was in
Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
My son took this picture circa 2003.

Sunday, March 8, 2015

Somebody left these under the bridge.
This is not uncommon.

Saturday, March 7, 2015

It's another hot one out there today. Got my diet soda
loaded (I'm not gonna say I live on this stuff, but...) and
I am out to wash a couple of cars in bad need.

Let's see here... Got my tools, for the most part.

The hose is always a fun a part to deal with.

Especially when there are two of them to get tangled up.
But it's all good. Two hoses are much better than one.

Scrub scrub scrub.

Drying towels drying.

All done. Two clean cars and some sun on my face.
Very nice.

I truly needed a Voorhees fix. It's been some months since
I watched a Friday the 13th movie. That time was Part V.
Tonight was a great viewing of Part VIII: Jason Takes
Manhattan. A highlight of the movie is the awesome featured
song "The Darkest Side Of The Night" written by Fred Mollin
and Stan Meissner and performed by Metropolis.
1980's wonderment.

(That keychain is not a Friday the 13th item. It's trying though.)

Friday, March 6, 2015

Wow. It's a beautiful 92 degree day here at
El Rancho De La Tex. The skies are not
cloudy all day as they say.

The girls are Serene and Sunning. The one
in the back is Marge.

Thursday, March 5, 2015

I posted a few months ago that I had wanted to buy the
Mad Max Blu-ray Collection but like a dolt I forgot and
I bought Mad Max alone on Blu. Well, since I did that I
abandoned the collection idea. So today I picked up
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Pure 80's
post-apocalyptic bad assedness.

We don't need another hero. We've got Max.

Just a blurry picture I took today of a little rain caused
rock slide along our drive.

I glow in the dark!
