My trip to Walmart tells me that Halloween

2023 is just around the corner. We at The Ranch

are beyond excited about this annual occasion.

Well, here's this.

We wrapped up our exciting Borden Cinema The Expendables

Film Fest last night with Part 3. There is so much testosterone

in these movies that it kept knocking me out of my seat!

That's a GOOD thing.

The Expendables 4 will be released this month. It has
been 9 years since Part 3. This should be interesting.

Yeah I don't think so.

This little lizard was on the outside wall when
I got home from work a few nights ago.

My Ghost Pepper plant is still hanging

in there. I think I will prune it when

it gets just a little taller.

The 2nd round of jalapenos I planted started to
show themselves. They don't get enough
sun but this is the only safe space I have

for them right now.
We will see.

Happy National Knife Day!

Actually, yesterday was National Knife Day but

I missed it. *blush* But hey! Today is a great day

as well... so Happy National Knife Day!

For this year's celebration I am featuring a knife

that was given to us by a friend as a wedding present

a WAY long time ago. It is an Alaskan Ulu knife. I am

sure that you have seen an Ulu before in one form or

another.

One side of the pamphlet that came with our Ulu.
It seems that quite a few folks used these Ulu
knives in their day to day food preparation.

This knife is pretty dang sharp. We never used it.
The blade is made of  "highly noncorrosive
stainless steel alloy". We will leave that there.

I am very happy to still have this Ulu knife after
all these years. It is not a knife that I would
have bought for myself.

National Knife Day.... HUZZAH!!!

And then there (thar) is this skull and crossbones

keychain deal that is on the pirate shelf in my

curio cabinet. I cannot EVEN remember

where I picked that up. It's

been a while.

A spare (NECA) Captain Jack Sparrow hand.

Here is Goofy's head on a suction cup. My son got this

for me from a vending machine. I cannot remember if
it was at the Regal Cinema or maybe on our
Annual Halloween Crawl. But he is a
fun guy and he suctions
REALLY well.

He lives in my curio cabinet.
I love these little treasures.

I took a picture of some bacon and buns.

I bought some fun new earrings for the Halloween season
at where else but Walmart. These will be great to wear
during our 2023 Halloween Store Crawl and
on the big day itself.

 
This is a postcard that I picked up along our
travels sometime in the 1960s. The Ponderosa
Hotel in Reno Nevada. As a kid I loved it here
because I related the name with one of my favorite
TV shows, Bonanza. There was no actual connection
with the TV show, but that didn't bother me.

Just look at that fine couple enjoying a steak dinner
while on their vacation. Looks very inviting to me.



Here is the back of the postcard. I remember being here
in the summertime when it was beautifully hot in the
middle of the night or very early morning, just walking
around alone as a kid. I LOVED it.

Nowadays this place is a rundown hotel
and strip club.

Well, my Ghost Pepper plant (planted on
Wednesday, June 21) is hanging in there.
But I am afeared that is ALL it is doing.

I know this seems like The Ghost Pepper
Plant Website lately, but I just want to
keep track of it's progress... for fun.

Fruitful or not, we will
eventually move on.

I bought this Superstars Alice Cooper figure a long time

ago. Alice has been a huge favorite of mine since I first

saw him in concert on TV when I was about 17. I was able
to see Alice during his Welcome to My Nightmare tour.
There is only one Alice and there
will never be another one.

I ran out of room and I actually need to unload many

that I have. Ninety-five percent of my collection

remains unopened.

As far as I can tell the company that makes
this figure has gone out of business.

For those of you who remember,

I have not had my favorite food for over a year now.

Today I choose to fantasize about pizza, admittedly

using a picture from a past entry.

Dear Diary,
I took this picture a LONG time ago. February 17th,
2009. I took the picture with my old Razor flip
phone. It is a Mexican restaurant in town.
I haven't had Mexican food

out for over a year.

I need to fix that.

Bryce Canyon (Utah) as seen through my Polaroid Swinger

Land Camera (again). I took these pictures in 1968 on a car
trip across America. Yes, the quality is not good, but
I wanted to have them here.

As soon as I locate that Swinger camera

I want to post a picture of it.

Well, I am not giving up... yet.
I started some new jalapeno plants.
I really want some jalapeno.

I transplanted my ghost pepper plant into a clay pot.
This is the first day so I think he is in a little
bit o' shock. Kinda droopier than he normally is.
He will hopefully perk up over
the next day or two.

I finally got my hands on a Creature from the Black Lagoon

Complete Legacy Collection on DVD. It has all 3 movies: "Creature
from the Black Lagoon", "Revenge of the Creature" and "The Creature

Walks Among Us". In TCWAU he is actually wearing clothes.

PEOPLE clothes. Who would not want to see THAT?

I know I do.

(And yes, all of my jalapeno plants are now dead.)

Long live the Ghost Pepper!

Well, I knew that it was a possibility, but I didn't think

that my jalapeno plants would last less than 24 hours in
the wild. I went out to water them at eight this morning

and most of them? Gone. Eaten.

I am sure the couple that are left will be on tonight's

menu unless I come up with a plan.

!! UPDATE !!
My jalapeno sprouts are I cannot remember how many days

old. I am going to transplant them into pots today. There are

a bunch of them little fellers in there. My ghost pepper plant

is just hanging on. I cannot seem to get that guy looking very

healthy. He will stay in that pot/can for a while.

I am still hoping for the best, but
expecting, well, you know.

...later that day.

I did transplant the jalapeno sprouts into some pots

today. This is just temporary until they become a little

stronger, IF they become a little stronger. Then I will

transplant them again. I have to keep them where the

rabbits etc. will not eat them.

We hung a birdhouse on Sunday, May 1, 2022 but so

far the little birds just kind of go in and out of it, not using

it to nest.

About a week ago we hung this new one pictured above.
Maybe they will like the stability of this house more
than the older one that just hangs on a hook.

My old canteen ended up outside resting
on an older marching drum sling.

I reckon I can write them both off.

I bought these Famous Dave's Devil's Spit Pickle Chips

at Walmart. I've been buying Dave's Devil's Spit BBQ

sauce for a while and I really like it so I thought I would

try these.

They are more sweet than dill. I don't like sweet pickles

but with the heat this works okay. If you sit and snack on

jalapenos without a cool beverage at your side, these will be

pleasantly warm for you. I love peppers, but I do need the

beverage so these are about a 3.5 out of 10 on the Heat Scale

for me. If a pepperoncini pepper has you screaming for
your mommy, take a pass on these.

I rate these a 7 or 8 on the Yummy Scale and

I pretty much just munch on these straight out of the jar,
but I think they would be G-R-E-A-T on hot dogs.

I picked up the "What's Happening!!" DVD set. All 65

episodes on 6 disks. I always liked this show. A highlight

is the two part "Doobie or Not Doobie" episode with special

guest stars The Doobie Brothers. Will Rerun secretly record the

DB concert to make bootleg tapes? Oh man.

Only one way to find out.
